i saw david massengill 9 years ago & twice more within the following year; he is FANTASTIC & when sally started AAS last year i suggested she book him; she did so; very cool to get one of my fave singers to town at my request!!! he was once more amazing. opened with 3 dave von ronk songs (he toured with dave long ago, being also dave's driver, since dave couldn't drive). the 3rd song dylan wanted to record, but promised dave he wouldn't before dave recorded it; dylan's album came out & dave wouldn't talk to bob for 2 years & stopped singing the "dylan" song; then dylan stopped singing it when it became the "animals" song (House of the Rising Sun). when he was in elem school, about 2nd grade, he discovered Great Expectations & loved the escaped convict; so when his teacher asked students what they wanted to be when they grew up, he said "escaped convict"
picked up his new album at regular price (15) & 5 "bootleg" albums at $5 each!!!!!! (albums not on reg label, no notes, but otherwise the full monty). lots of his wonderful stories on some of them, which are priceless. a magical evening.
