gotta question for people...if an artist relies on weed to gather inspiration, is the inspiration and infact the final product really his?
Abyss

I'd say yes although it is a bit dodgy. i rely on life to throw me inspiration and i call the tracks mine even when the experience isn't mine personally, because the song becomes personal to me. so i'd have to say 'Yes'.

interestin question though b

ermmm... just cos u dont smoke init.... woopy fukin dooo hahahaha

basically, if a person smokes weed. thats their choice, its part of their personality an culture as it were....... so if they wrote lyrics when their lean then its THEM init.
ask that same question about Jimi hendrik?... bob marley?... bob dylan?...
i dont know whether they need[ed] to smoke weed but if they did then theres no way on earth u can take away their credit...

do u drink before goin on stage?
do u drink coffee/ tea to wake u up in preparation for writing lyrics?

personally, i find i make the best beats wen i lean, i write my best lyrics wen im drunk n i do my best breakdancin wen i sober...

n there all mine!!!

i am in no way shape or form encouraging the usage of controlled substances by the way...

peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

yes i do drink tea to wake me up...and i have been known to need sum dutch courage...but we all know that weed is a substance known to enhance creativity...

when in athletics, an athlete is found using chemicals or substances to enhance performance they are banned and stripped from their achievements because its a form of cheating...its still the athlete thats runnin and doing the work and has trained for years and years to reach that level. but those enhancers have given them the edge....

dont get it twisted, i love music and have prob appreciated it more because my favourite artists were off of their heads when they made their shit...but still....i agree with de la soul completely....weed is another form of ghost writing...

peace

I'm just trying to imagine Paula Radcliffe getting stoned before running the marathon. She'd never make it to the startline, they'd find her cotching in the tea room playing dominos...then again, you gotta be fucked up in the head to take a whizz by the roadside in an internationally broadcast race.

Very iiiinteresting concept. Made even more prominent by the fact I'm listening to Budsmokers Only by Bone Thugs.

I would however have to say the 'intellectual property rights' still belong to the artists as opposed to his props.

As others say, lyrics come from experiences, and the fact you're high at the time only serves as another experience. Yeah, you may be artificially inseminating the ideas, but no more so than another other lifetime occurence.

I'm not a smoker. Infact, other than alcohol, I'm substance free and like it that way, but I'm more than aware of the effects the weed has on the mind.

I'm not aware of it having the ability to enable the user to learn knowledge they didn't already know previously. Weed never taught anybody Shakespeare, the American Constitution, or what a possum looks like, so anything recited whilst under the influence must be exaggerations portrayed by imagination (the feeling of murder or stories of a purple gingerbread man running around Stockwell with a pair of flip-flops on his hands and a Mini Cooper on his back) or regained knowledge from previous experiences.

The performance enhancing drugs in sports angle is an intriguing one too. I think the only thing that seperates the two is the respective effects.

In sports, you take drugs to increase speed, strength, etc. These then create a mutated athlete capable of feats he/she otherwise wouldn't have been able to. Weed however is a recreational drug, used for relaxation, social reasons, and as such the only 'positive' effect is the creation of a clear mind and vivid imagination.

Drugs dont make people more creative, they can bring it out of people and enhance it though.

Like Exzessive said its a stimulant used for relaxation....i dont think you can look at weed as a form of ghost writing. Weed relaxes the brain and allows it to perhaps open up more than when your not blazing. I know from personal experience (as im sure 99% of the people who are reading this!) that sometimes you try too hard to relax your brain to write and only end up winding yourself up, and rather than relaxing your mind and allowing it to wander you end up forcing into a tight coil.

Mr Drastick ACCAPELLAS FOR REMIX ON PAGE.

YES COZ THE WEED OPENED A CHAPTER OF HIS MIND THAT WAS CLOSED DUE TO THE STRESS'S OF LIFE. WITH IT OPENED HIS/HER CONFIDENCE SHINES IN THEIR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION HENCE THE CONCEPTS THAT THEY CREATE THE SONGS BASED ON.

IF YOU WERE DRUNK AND HAD SEX WITH SOME GIRL AND 6 MONTHS LATER SHE BELLED YOU SAYING SHE IS PREGNANT, IS IT NOT YOUR BECAUSE YOU WAS DRUNK? LOL

SAME SHIT!

would it still be him mashing it like a stallion or is it the drug he took that affected his performance?

VERB T- ALBUM DONE OUT 2010

i think bob marly said sumthing along the lines of...... smoking herb reveals a person to themself.......i think some of the man made chemical shit people smoke these days is just desiged to fuck u up, but natural weed is a stimulant used to enhance the senses, in my experince weed just relexes u and allows u to pay closer attention to your pitch and flow, but c'mon man weed can not give u the skills u lack, not u personally lol but people in general
