This is not advice, I do not recommend this. I am not responsible for your application of statements in this article. In other words, natural birth control works for me, it may or may not work for you.
Despite the new wave of health awareness and the effort to make one's diet natural, many of us are unprepared to look for natural alternatives in our pharmacy diet. With it's marketing, prevalence and simplicity, the pharmaceutical market gets over $200 billion a year from the US alone. We all groove on the trend of "green" and are starting to raise awareness of conservation of the environment, but what of our environment of our own selves, the climate of our bodies? While some drugs are without a doubt excellent for emergency medicine, there is little regard to the long term effects of chemical supplements, and even less regard to the symbiotic effects of those drugs with the drugs already prevalent in our food and our water (Google the Assoc. Press' article on drugs in our drinking water). Still less in consideration are the new discoveries of the complex reaction of certain foods and juices intensifying effects of some drugs by over five times, which has lead to overdose death (Wiley Interscience). Not to mention the downplayed link growing between contraceptives, cancer, and chemical imbalances.
While we can have an optimistic attitude towards natural remedies and rehash the ill effects from chemicals and our bodies, this is not going to change everyone's habits or suit everyone's desires. Those who have become reliant upon the status quo or see no need for improvement should not follow the way I have been trying. Using natural medicine is a very radical step in body awareness, and in fine tuning your ability to listen to your body's changes and needs. If you are used to a steady intake of various medical supplements, or live a sedate lifestyle, chances are you are not going to be in a condition to try this alternative treatment. A clean body will respond better to treatment than a dirty one. Without pushing further ideals, here is my confession: I have not used pharmaceutical contraceptives or condoms for nearly a year while having an active sexual lifestyle ( intercourse at least 3 times a week), and have sucessfully prevented pregnancy. While a year's observation is hardly the amount of time needed for a successful long-run test for contraceptive in my opinion, I am coming forward at this time because my run with mainstream contraceptives was less sucessful. With standard medical contraceptives and a run with injected contraceptive, I became pregnant after nine months. After all the months of strange discharges and deep, long mood swings, I found my endurance of the side effects unrewarded.
I found most of my information from this site, but they are not connected to my words here in any way: (http://www.sisterzeus.com/Abortif.htm). My other sources were based off of texts from my partner's certified Vitalist Herbalism degree. After tailoring the list of abortaficient herbs to more mild forms and ones more availible to me, I simply listened to my body. I used the pull-out method during intercourse with my partner (the same partner I was sexually active with during my medical contraceptive days). A week prior to my period, I can tell if it is arriving from slight mood swings and mild cramping. If the week before an expected period I do not feel the starting signs, I drink parsley tea and insert a parsley bolus that I wear constantly, changing 2-3 times a day, until the period comes. There has been one occasion where I used this for seven days without it working; at this point I limited food intake for two days while cleansing with pennyroyal tea (FYI, pennyroyal tea can be fatal). That occasion was the only difficult time I have had with this natural contraceptive, and even then, I have not had failure. I alternated with vitamin C once, but it was not sucessful in bringing a timely period, once I switched back to parsley, things proceeded regularly. None of this is to be taken as advice, this is simply my experiment in progress that has worked for me. I do not use it on months where I can sense my lining getting ready to shed, only when I feel possibly pregnant, or want an extra boost to my cycle, which is about 2/3rds of the time. This could possibly all be attributed to excellent will power between me and my partner. But then again, abortaficient herbs couldn't be helping my fertility exactly, either.
This isn't just about being less susceptible to uterine cancer, having less chemicals in my diet and suffering less side effects, those are just the benefits of my choice. The point is I have a self-sufficient way to control my fate, independent of any price drug companies decide on or tax-payers pay. I have the constance of nature as my asset, I rely on no part of industry or business for my personal choice and sexual freedom.
In a year and a half if I am still successful to this end, I will crunch out some statistics to compare all pros and cons between both treatments. In the meantime I'd like to know if any one else has already tried this.
