Greetings Bat-boys and Bat-girls. We wanted to let you all know about a couple of Gilded Bats shows on the horizon. This Friday, May 2, we hope you'll join us in downtown Iowa City and have a little old-time string band music with your lunch. We'll be playing a free show outside M.C. Ginsberg during the lunch hour (noon – 1) as part of their Friday Afternoon concert series. If it's raining you can find us busking just off the Ped Mall, under the covered walkway next to the Sheraton Hotel.

Then on Saturday night, May 3, we'll be playing for a contra dance in Fairfield at Morningstar Dance Studio, which is on the East side of the town square. Beginners lessons start at 7:30, and dancing starts at 8:00. Jennifer Hamilton from Fairfield will be calling the dances. In non-Bat news, we'd like to remind those of you who play traditional music or who'd like to play traditional music that the Iowa Friends of Old-Time Music sponsors a weekly Celtic/bluegrass/folk/old-time jam session on Tuesday nights at Old Capitol Brew Works in Iowa City. Also, those of you interested in traditional Sacred Harp singing will want to check out Iowa Public Television on Saturday, May 10th at 5:30, when IPTV will air the documentary Awake My Soul: The Story of the Sacred Harp. You might also want to check out the 8th Annual Iowa All Day Singing on Saturday, June 7th near Des Moines.
