Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
I couldn't decide on the proper category so Dreams and the Supernatural seemed an appropriate choice!!
We decided since this will most likely be a once in a lifetime thing to just go all out. We hired a limo. Eric Patterson just bought this one new and this was the first trip for it. We
had eight members. Dave, Chris, Heather, Doug, Doug, Harry, Jessa and me
(past and present) going . It was a wonderful trip over. Chris had prepared
mint juleps!!
We arrived and all bailed out, which was no mean feat . The valets were very helpful asking us
what the event was we were attending, we told them, and found out we were at
the wrong Hyatt Regency!! Got back in and headed for the "Grand" Hyatt
Regency. Arrived in time for about 30 minutes of the champagne
reception..........Then a marvelous dinner, followed by the presentation of
the awards. We had to wait quite a while for we were more than halfway down
the list of nominees...plenty of time to hear our competetion win a couple
of awards! Richard Lifshey and James Bridges the producers of Last Ditch and
their friends and families were at the table next to ours. It was surreal
when the nominees in our category were announced and of course then the MC
had to tell a couple of goofy jokes to prolong the waiting.....then our name
was called out and the spotlight blinded us and we were on our way up to our
"fifteen minutes" (actually 30 seconds) of fame!! I wish you could have been with us!! It was a blast.....
Lisa asked us for comments for the newspaper but we didn't get them to her in time so here are a couple of thoughts on the whole experience.......
I can't say this is a dream
come true because it's something I honestly never dreamed of.......We have
friends and family who have been telling us for years that someday,
something very good was going to happen for us. This is it and we are so
honored to have been a part of The Last Ditch. Many thanks to Richard
Lifshey and James Bridges for finding us and loving the
music.................Susie
The feeling of being a part of the Emmy's is just undescribable. When the
> presenting couple said those famous words "...and the Emmy goes to..." we
> all held our breath and couldn't bear to look. From the moment they called
> out "The Last Ditch" the next ten minutes seemed like only a few seconds
> and two hours, all at the same time. Now it is a blur...then it was a
> blur. As we made our way through the crowd to the stage we heard our music
> as a clip of the movie was played on the big screen for all to see. Harry,
> the bass player put it like this..."At first it was complete elation, now
> the feeling has settled into satisfaction." I think what makes it so
> special is the unique bond that our band members have with each other. We
> are each others family, and to win this with the people I won it with is
> what makes it so special. To see each one of them as happy as I was, was
> "elation" enough for me.............Chris
By the time we got back home we were hungry again so........ we ordered pizza (see pics) and spent a couple of hours just laughing and talking (like in the tent after the dance!!) then slowly returned to the real world! In the past couple of days we have all had so many calls offering congratulations. We sincerely appreciate you all !
