Getting this news is so sad to me. Hughie was a great talent and a wonderful person. It almost goes without saying that he will be missed. If you have to put a label on this style of music, I guess they did it back in the day when bands of the south dominated the airwaves ,and deservingly so. The name the record label executives pushed was Southern Rock, and even though it was not a name some of the bands enjoyed, it was indeed a genre people in the south are very proud of and feel they can call their own. Though we have lost yet another member of this genre that we really call family. Heaven has been blessed once again. God Bless you Hughie, you're now a true rider in the sky. We, the extended family, also known as your friends and fans will remember you always.

In Heaven there is one hell of a jam session going on. The lineup is as follows Duane Alman and Barry Oakley of the Alman Brothers Band, Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines of Lynnerd Skynerd, Toy Caudwell and Barry Crump, Jackson Spars of Blackfoot, Lonesome Dave and Rod Price from Foghat, Danny Joe Brown, and the latest addition to the Heavenly Jam is Hugie Thomason form the Outlaws. That is one jam I dont plan on missing. Hope to see you all there.

"Green Grass and High Tides" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky" are major parts of my childhood and bring back great memories. Thanks, Hughie.

He will be missed.

Thanks Hughie for all those great guitar riffs and a true inspiration to all of us who enjoy playing and listening to your music....I will never forget the guy with the cowboy and the Fender Strat...that could really move you...he inspired me to play harder. God take care of him and take care of his family.
