Happy Feet could have been a good movie, but it just tried to be to many things at the same time. I didn't know whether it is a sing-a-long (follow the bouncy ball), a penguin doing the chicken noodle soup, or an attempt by PETA to show that cute furry things are being annihilated by global warming. Imagine randomly going to the Artic only to discover that the sound of a thousand Emperor penguins being more radiant than the reflection of the glacier. In a movie with a main character who is dejected because he does not meet the groups expectations, Happy Feet does not break any new ground and comes off as cliché. It is disturbing because it seems like a cross between Bring It On (dancing part) and Lion King (guilt trip) in a more twisted sense. Mumble, the protaganist, is trying to find himself after he matures and uses his one talent, dancing, to do so. If dancing can save society, Emmit Smith is our savior.
