W00t! Look at you, Mr. Hot Stuff, Mr. Violin Virtuoso! Itzhak Perlman better watch out, 'cause a new sherriff's in town. Hey, if you guys ever get to doing any new music together (never say never?), maybe you can break out the violin and wave some classical mojo over the whole thing, or maybe rock the violin the way Andy McKay rocked the sax. Hey, what is the highest grade you can be, anyway?

Thanks guys! Well I pressed on with my fogeyish obsession for the violin, chamber music, Mahler etc. and on 9th of November 2007 I passed Grade 7, also with Merit.

Now I'm studying for Grade 8 and have joined Edinburgh Symphony Orchestra. We're about to do our third concert of the season :4 Last Songs and Death & Transfiguration by Strauss, plus Pulcinella by Stravinsky.

After Grade 8 you can do Diplomas at 3 different levels. It's a bit like practising the high jump in that when you see other people doing it well it seems perfectly impossible, but when you try it yourself it seems just possible enough to want to keep going.
