I love to have fun.  I work hard as an employee and as a single mom, and I deserve every bit of the fun I have.  I seriously love to travel, and today, while trying to plan a much-needed beach week-end, I realized something important!  I have always had more fun on vacation with my boys and with my "girls" than I have had with any man in my life.

Now, don't get me wrong, I certainly enjoy my man's company.  We go to dinner, the drag strip, play golf, party, cook meals together, and sometimes just lie in bed and, uh, watch t.v. for hours.  But our one and only vacation together (to the Bahamas) was a total disaster.  We argued the ENTIRE trip.  I wouldnt even travel back to Huntsville with him from Miami...it was pitiful.  As soon as I got back, we talked, mourned the loss of what was supposed to be a perfect holiday, and got over it ASAP.  Everything went right back to normal.

So, I started thinking about the BEST vacations Ive ever had.  They have always been either "girl road-trips", or when I have taken my son(s) to the beach.  The only bad beach trip Ive ever had was when my former husband came with.  Okay, the sex was great...but you just can't beat  all-night sex in a condo right on the beach with the patio doors open and the sound of the surf gently lulling you to sleep...the sea breeze keeping you cool...okay, I gotta stop now.  But everything else was just mediocre.

So, what does this say about the Queen?

Well in my humble opinion maybe there was too much pressure to have the "Perfect Holiday" with your man, but when you are with your boys or your "girls" you just relax and let the fun just happen!

I think many times couples experience the same thing as you did when expectations are so high!

I'm certain that was a big part of the reason the vacation was such a disaster. It took 4 months to plan the Bahamas trip. Although Ive known my boyfirend since we were kids and we've dated in the past, this was our first time going away together. The first leg of the trip (Thanksgiving with my best friend in Tampa) was great. We flew there early Thanksgiving a.m., went to the beach, ate a great dinner, watched football, shopped, and spent the night. Early the next morning, we drove to Miami to board the ship. The moment we got to the docks things started to unravel...

Oh well. If I close on the sale of my former home next week as planned, I am considering taking an impromptu trip to Destin for the weekend if I can convince him to drop everything and go ( a 5.5 hr. drive from Huntsville). Keeping all of the things that you guys have said in mind, I really hope to turn things around.

And Wes, I will be applying some of the techniques you have so lovingly shared in your blogs :)
