Current mood:  sleepy
Category: Travel and Places
Well, I've been wanting to write for a while but haven't had the time or internet access to do so, so let me back track a bit.....

When last we left the BUBG, they were getting ready to play in Dillon, CO at the Cala Inn.  We had a great gig there, as usual.  It's always great to get back to the Cala.  Thanx to ya'll who came out to party with us.

After Dillon, we had a couple days off to chill, then on friday we headed to Leadville to play at Bobbie's Place.  Unfortunatley, Bobbie couldn't make it, but we ended up having the best crowd we've ever had there.  Our buddy Elwood came down from Alma to play harp on the gig with us and it rocked!  Folks were drinkin and dancin all night long.

The next day was saturday and the beginning of the South Park Music Tour in Fairplay and we were supposed to play at the South Park Saloon in Alma that night, but the Music Tour had trumped our booking with some other bands from the festival.

Jerm and I just so happened to be hanging out at the South Park drinking when we found out that the band who was supposed to headline the night never showed up.  You can probably guess what happened next.....yes, we played the set but not before borrowing our friend Chris's car (with his two dogs in the back seat) to go back over Hoosier Pass (how perfect is that?) to get our car with our equipment and come back.

Meanwhile, Chris just so happens to be a percussionist and brought out his Jimbay(sp?) and shakers and another Chris brought his Congas.

After Jerm and I got the set started we called the Chris' up and really rocked the house!  The folks were drunk and dancing the whole time.  Jerm and I even switched it up on Train, I played guitar and sang and he played harp. The Chris' were right there on it the whole time.

As the set came to a close Junior, our sound guy and fellow musician, came in on the drum kit and threw down with us.  It was awesome.

On sunday we played at McCall's in Fairplay after the Music Tour was over.  We had a great couple sets with all kinds of folks sitting in.... Junior on drums, Nef on bass and some other folks that popped in.  It was a cool sunday gig.

We took monday to relax and headed west toward Washington on tuesday and hung out there with our friend Mike before we played at the Little Creek Casino on thursday.

We spent 4th of July in Shelton with Mike and his family and saw the phattest fireworks display I've ever seen.  EVER!

Tuesday we headed to Seattle to play at Hwy 99.  We stayed with Jerm's friend Jesse and played the gig on wednesday.

We had a great crowd at the show...small, but signifiacant.  Jerm's cousin, his wife and friends came out.  Our long lost friend Dan came out and brought a group with him.  And there were the few random people who showed up, but stayed and were awesome.  The bartender Sarah, Jeff the sound guy and the whole staff were all fabulous.  Thanx for having us back.

We headed back to Olympia the next day and caught up with Jerm's old friend and my newer friend Linda to hang out and get our Tarot Cards read....always a must.  From there we stopped by KAOS the radio staion at Jerm's old college Evergreen to go on the radio and then hi-tailed it to the East Side Tavern for our gig.

Andy from the bar had set us up with a harp player, Tom Adler, who was really good.  We had lots of friends show up and made some new ones and just had a fucking great time.

We stayed with our friend Luis that night and hit the road the next day for Oregon to play in Yachats.

The Yachats gig at the Landmark was just as fun as always.  We had lots of dancers and some chick even talked me into singing 'Me and Bobby McGee' a capella....(don't get any ideas out there). But, it was really a great night and the place is literally ON the coast.

The next day we had to get moving again....'tis the road.....we were going back to Cali to see an old friend and that is where I sit now.  We leave in the morning to head back to Colorado.  It's late and this re-cap probably sucks, but there you have it.... mostly..... you'll never know it all because what happens on the road, stays on the road.

Goodnight all.

Bottoms Up!
