Next weekend, we're preparing to record the next NorthPoint project, tentatively entitled "Cumberland Road." We'll likely record some of the songs we have been playing live lately at places like Katie Bullard's (and Karl's god rest) Dublin Pub including "Fallin' Angel" (a song inspired by Pacific Northwest musician David Vest), "Hallelejuh Free" (a brand new song that Kenny wrote), "Fight On" (thanks to Erik Olaf on ideas for this tune), "Black Cloud Girl" and hopefully a few others. I think people will like "Judy Blue Echo" because it reminds me of some Pink Floyd songs that have meant a lot to me. And "Why Mississippi" is the kind of song that just might make Robert Johnson roll over in his grave. Speaking of which, if all goes well we'll re-record "Muddy Water" and let Joel and Josh do their thing - if that doesn't make people remember that New Orleans is the City that Care Forgot, I don't know what will. We listened to Lucinda Williams tonight on Soundstage and if any of that rubs off on us we'll be, as Stevie said to Billy Triplett one rainy night in Oregon, in "Angels Wings."
Peace,
-- the NorthPoint boys
