Well, well, well. This is my second blog and I am sure as hell not any smarter or any more relevant than the last time I did one of these damn things.
I am jazzed today and I am going to share with you why. Why? Because this is a blog and it would be kind of shitty for me to to tell everyone I am jazzed and not expain the reasons for which I am jazzed.
I am jazzed because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel a little more clearly. Not saying we're completely out of the woods yet, but it is safe to say I am starting to see some sun through the trees and the big bad wolf has finally given up and released my right foot.
By forest, I mean this journey of mine to complete an album and start creating a brand and by big bad wolf, I mean all of the things that keep us from taking the actions steps needed to start building our dreams or goals. Those things being self-doubt, external influences i.e. other people's opinions, lack of time, day job, lack of funds ( big one ), etc....
I have recruited the help of one of guy who is not only an amazing painter, illustrator, dad, friend and overall visual artist, but he is also a first-class graphic designer. His name is J. Ben Moss and he is in the process helping me with the cherriest of all independent music logos.
Okay I know only douche bags use words like "cherriest", but it captures the moment. You can find J. Ben's awe-inspiring work at two sites. One is www.squoog.com and it showcases his impressive portfolio as an illustrator, artist and designer. The other is more of an edgy site where you can purchase his prints. Look up http://bmoss.deviantart.com/ You will be very impressed.
I am also jazzed because we are in the final quarter of album production with my man Ken Demith of the Harvest Carnival as producer/engineer/bassplayer/miscellanous instruments. Check them out at www.myspace.com/theharvestcarnival . We have been working on this record for over a year. I know he is ready to be rid of me and I appreciate his patience over this long time period. Much like myself, he has a full time gig and a great family. His wife Kim has been so patient with the drum kits in the living room, the constant vocal takes and the late hours. Not to mention, what Ken works on while I am not there. I know in the end that I will be proud of this album and I feel like Ken will be proud of it too. I hope so. We have both put a lot of work into it. Especially Ken.
Peace and love be with you all,
MM
