Well,where do we start?
This years Farnfest was amazing,it truly was a honour to play it.We had the saturday 5.30pm slot in the Woodman, and the beer garden was packed. We arrived about 3.30,right in the middle of the final of there "F Factor",that was a feat in itself, trying to tip toe through the crowd whilst carrying all our gear! not easy i can tell you. This year everything was bigger, the stage, the p a,the lighting rig, video screens, live feeds to the tv's in the bar area,i swear even the burgers were bigger! We started to set up around 5.15,did a quick soundcheck, and started the set about 5.45.As we normally do only our own material,it was a nice change to do some covers, and to play for a bit longer then the normal 40 minutes. We tried to do a rough 50/50 mix of originals and covers, mixing them up between the two 45 minute sets. The covers included high and dry, whistle for the choir, black horse and the cherry tree to rockier stuff like rocks, vertigo, teenage kicks,20th century boy.Basically,a right mixture of stuff to hopefully suit all tastes.
It was great to see so many kids at the front of the stage, getting into it with ther blow up guitars! It was a great gig,the atmosphere was spot on,the sun shone, and the beer flowed, what more do you want ?
It was great to see so many familliar faces there, your support is greatly appreciated and valued, and hope you had as good a day as we did.It was nice to speak to people afterwards who haven't seen us before, and say they really enjoyed the gig.
I managed to see some fine bands over the weekend, starting with The Bash Street Band on friday night. They are a great 4 piece rock/blues band,Kristian the lead singer (a fellow CPFC season ticket holder !) is a great frontman, and the other guys were very nice to talk to during their break. On sunday it was the turn of Breathe,an 8 piece Pink Floyd tribute band who blew everybody away. With all the lights, lasers and effects,it was just like the real thing.I also caught the last bit of The Slapheadz set down at the Change of Horse's.Another tight 3 piece doing rock covers, excellent band.
Anyway it's thank you time
To Jason and all the Farnfest team, you were superb, you all deserve the praise thats coming your way.
