this is gonna be long, but please read it, it's serious. my dad is in bad shape, but i'm thankful, cause it could be much worse at this point.
wow, what a day. so i came home to help my dad open his restaurant. we went over there and i was inside cleaning while him and the kid that's been helping him went onto the roof to take down the old sign. my dad was getting down off the roof and as soon as he stepped onto the ladder it started to slip and fell off- about 10 ft. the first to things to hit the ground were his right hand and his head. Devon, the kid that's been helping him, jumped off the roof and screamed to me. i came out and he was trying to get up but we just told him to lay down and he wasn't very coherent. i called the ambulance. his wrist was obviously broken and by the time i got off the phone, his neck was swolen and he said it hurt. the ambulance and they took all the precautions on his neck. devon stayed and locked everything up and i followed the ambulance in my dad car. on the way to the hospital the worst i thing i thought was his wrist, which again was obviously broken. we went in and i called the close family. while i was outside calling he went into ct scan. i came back in and the doctor had told my dad that his neck is broken. i was in complete shock. praise God his spinal cord is still in tact, so he still has movement and feeling, but a broken neck is never a minor thing. i had to go back and call the family with the update. i called my brother first and saying "his neck is broken" to him was when it really sank in.i started crying. i hung up the phone with and kinda broke down, i'm really happy there wasn't anyone around me at that point. i sucked it up and called my sister and my uncle, who i am so greatful for. he said he would call my grandparents and tell them, which i'm so happy he did cause that would probably have been the hardest. my parents are divorced, but my mom obviously would still wanna know about this, so i called her. i was in and out all day checking on him and calling friends and business people he asked me to call. i'm really thankful i got a lot of voice mails too, cause leaving that message was a lot easier than talking to the people right then. i guess my sister called my dad's pastor, cause he came by and was with my dad for well over an hour, and my old youth pastor stayed outside and talked to me while he was in there. my uncle came a little later and stayed for several hours, and some of my dad's friends came by too. my sister and brother live outta state, so they obviously couldn't just swing by, but i think my brother will be here in the next few days. they finally moved him into a room around 11 tonight, and i'm staying the night here with him. they have wireless internet, so that's nice. he's probably gonna have surgery on both his neck and his wrist tomorrow morning. the main risk with the neck is the break is right where a bunch of arteries meet. everyone please be praying for him and i'll update when i can. i'm gonna run his business tomorrow, and i really don't know what we're gonna do after that, he's owns his own business and has no imployees, so him not working = no money. hopefully we can get somebody hired atleast temporarily this week, cause i can train a competant human being to run it in a few days. he'll probably be in one of those halos that screws into his head for a while, and i have no idea what the recover time is like, so things could get tough, and i have no idea when i'll be back at school. everyone please just keep my dad, Fred Fuller, in your prayers and thanks everybody.
