revery about intoxicated turtles

the fruit has turned again

alcohol fragrant

smile at the thought of them

lolling on a beach

inverted and drunk and certain of

turning rightside again

every wave an ally

tomorrow the eggs will hatch and the
young will

race to the sea, Darwinically pursued

by rapacious winged predators

half will die the rest will find the
sea

and live.

the fruit has turned again

alcohol fragrant

smile at the thought of them

lolling on a beach

inverted and drunk and certain of

turning rightside again

It definitely captures a certain fatalist sense. Once, a cow moose got quite tipsy while eating fermented rowan berries in our town, she stumbled around and got a string of colored lights tangled in her antlers. That is how this poem makes me feel.

party/face down cruel nature/party--it is the balance restored that makes us turtles go on turtling.

I love the fact that your poetic visions
are always unexpected
always accurate in observation
intricate in detail
and ultimately unique

This one did make me smile with the turtles -
and it allowed me to feel the irresponsible pleasure
of letting the forces of nature
put me back on my feet...
