In the entrepreneurial spirit of the late great, Tony Wilson, founder
of In the City in 1992, Official ITC fringe events stand shoulder to shoulder
with the hand picked In the City chosen bands and major record and music media industry
showcases. The great and the good of the music world descend on ....Manchester.... looking for
the next big thing. Over three nights from the 18th to 20th
October venues across the city host an
eclectic mix of independent music artists all hoping to make a difference and
get their music noticed.....

The historic Kings Arms bloom
street saw the Darkness find fame in 2002 and this year it returns to the ITC
fold. FMS promotions presents, “Shouting from the Sidelines” a
celebration of independent music featuring the best Mancunian talent mixed with
some of the UKs most promising unsigned bands. The event takes its tag line
from Ian Young, BBC music reporter, who at last years ITC proclaimed, “Without
new artists shouting from the sidelines, the music scene will cease to exist.” ....

Sunday 18th October “Urchin Pop”. A night bristling with
energy, passion and fuelled with northern charm, with performances from; The Cougars, The Harks, AREA, China White, The Shills, David Tyrrell
and the hotly tipped ..Salford.. outfit Suzuki Method. With a special one off
special performance; “Looking for the Light through the Pouring Rain”. DJ Dave Haslam and Live Images by Kevin
Cummins, one
of the must see after show parties of this years ITC music festival.....

Monday 19th
October “About the Boys”. An eclectic mix of urban ballads, accoustic bliss, classic indie with a dub
fusion twist. "The ITC Monday not to be missed". With, Lee Broderick, Rawcuss, Violet Bones, James
Page, The Genuine Articles and a special accoustic outing of The Shallow Call. With special guest, Luke Leighfield,one of the most talked
about, and exciting emerging pop talents in the UK indie scene.
Tuesday 20TH October – The Sound of the
Underground – The Finale. "A climatic end to
three nights of stunning music at ITC 2009, the best mixed indie cocktail
combines; new wave charm, urban folk, Salford attitude, Manchester charm shaken
and stirred with the dark and beautiful sound of the underground. With, SPESS, No Flash, John Herring, TigerSide,
Exile Parade and the dark and beautiful sound of London outfit Bang Bangs. With special guests The Jives, one of biggest and best
bands not yet signed, approaching half a million on line plays, stars in
waiting, “so bright you can see them from space”.
