I don’t know your whole story and you do not know mine,
But the telling will be easier if we take it line by line.
Don’t skip to the exiting bits. Don’t leave the detail out.
Everybody here is listening so there’ll be no need to shout.

Start at your very beginning, or just a bit before,
Tell me all there is to tell then tell me just a little more.
It could all be written down, or recorded in some way,
Making our distant memories closer tomorrow than they are today.

When our books are completed and others come to read,
They will follow the respective plots, in which we played the lead,
In between the separate dramas in which our story-lines are set,
They’ll find our shared chapter, the chapter where we met.
