Current mood:  lazy
Giles - drums; Shine - guitar; Steven - bass & repetitive mumbling; Justin - synthy noise & cowbell; Dr Dougie - tenor horn Four days before the gig and we hit our first obstacle: Mark, the Strange Attractor, can't make it. What kind of tribal-drone-funk outfit are we without a droner? Luckily, Justin from Now stepped into the fold with his Korg minisynth and provided the terrestrial gurgling. After an impressive performance with the Little Princess Orchestra in Brighton last Tuesday, Dougie was invited to blow a little horn. He showed up fresh from another gig in his tight cycling leggings. That was the band's sex appeal covered, then. Disagreements about the band's name followed a controversial piece of misinformation in Hugo's e-mailout. Introduced by an ominous drone, DOG finally took to the stage. The rest is all something of a blur, but I recall attempting some vocals (my subconscious failing miserably to blank out the experience) and looking up and seeing at least four people dancing. Success!, I thought. Later, Hugo and Seattle Sam (on the sound desk) kept asking what that horrible noise was. No, they weren't referring to the band, but I slowly realised that it was the glorious climactic moment about which they were talking, that happened about three-quarters of the way through the set, when Giles did a drum-fill, I hit the strings in a semblance of a bass riff, and we tore the fucking roof off, man. In my mind, at least. We all agreed it was so good we should try it again some time. The offers for collaboration are already piling in - I'd get in there quick if I were you.
