I'm becoming more and more addicted to the song "About A Girl" by The Academy Is. It's a very catchy little diddy even if the lyrics are very amateurish. Still, it's a solid pop rock song that Nate probably hates without having heard it. Fun fact it also served as the background music to a little video Taylor Swift made about her day to day life. True story. Now if you'll forgive me I'm about to use math from high school for the first time in my life...
-If Taylor likes the song and Dan likes the song then they must be soul mates. That's one of those logic problems...more or less.
Travis Pastrana is either incredibly stupid or incredibly awesome. And the show Nitro Circus is the shit.
I think about weird things in the shower. It's sometimes awkward. For example, I've spent far too much time staring at the tiles and finding faces in them with my personal favorite being "angry Abe Lincoln." Beyond that and marveling at my finely sculpted body I'll think to myself, "Dan, you haven't been to the dentist in a while...Remember when you had the dentist named Dr. Gross?...And now it's Dr. Weiner...That's some weird names...you know who else had a weird name *insert random former friend/acquaintance here*...I wonder what happened to them." That's all one continuous thought and leads to me eventually having to convince myself that the shower is not the appropriate time to be thinking about that kid who was in your second grade class but moved and has the same first name as a current friend of yours. So feel safe in knowing that there's a chance that everytime I shower I'm thinking about you. Unless of course you're Nate, then I'm always thinking about you, shower or not.
Continuing the random facts. A guy I work with said I sound like Frank Sinatra. Which while being incredibly awesome seems a tad bit off. He also added that I could probably sing well if I tried. Now that's true, my voice sounds like a cross between Fergie and Jesus(I apologize for the obvious reference but it needed to be done). All in all he's a good guy so I'm going to take every word he says as gospel, take it straight to heart. Who ever names the song referenced there wins. Go. Ok fail, it's Time And Distance. I win. You all lose. Especially you Nate.
I'm now convinced that hockey is the way hd should be judged. Don't get me wrong, HD looks good at all times but hockey is probably the toughest to get right. As I am learning while adjusting the settings on my tv.
Nothing is going my way tonight and it's a little frustrating. First and foremost apparently I waited too long to buy the Scene It game for the xbox so I'm going to have to man up and buy the newer more expensive version. There's a new band I'm kind of getting into, but I can't find their ep online anywhere(even iTunes, I'm willing to pay for it. As a result I'm streaming their stuff online though myspace who hates me and makes it so once you listen to four songs or so you have to say no I'd rather not do a survey just let me listen to music. Damn you Tom, I'm a little bitter but kudos to you for being able to make more money apparently. And finally as you probably know(since you're Nate and you were there) it's become exponentially harder for me to hate the Islanders now. And you all should know how much I hated them at one point. But it's mainly the Scene It thing. Also the Rangers still can't score, fyi I'm watching the game now and was really hoping by typing that last sentence the I'd reverse jinx myself /the Rangers and they'd score but it's not going to happen. And on cue the
Rangers Leafs score. Their name isn't even a word. It's leaves not leafs. And yet they're winning. And just so you know I literally just finished typing the reverse jinx thing and the leafs scored.
Fun fact about Dan that ties into the Rangers. As you know I've played a lot of sports games in my life and have run teams for multiple seasons, controlling the games and the players that are signed and traded for. Additionally I had a short temper and made many rash decisions which prompted Kevin to say this about the Rangers..."If they didn't play tonight Sather(the Rangers GM) would have pulled a Dan." See that's real life working it's way into virtual reality working into what ever you want to call the cluster fuck of the Rangers season.
And we're back. The Rangers scored, it might be their first meaningful goal since Matteau put one past Brodeur. MATTEAU! MATTEAU! MATTEAU! Still gives me chills, easily one of the best play by play calls that I can think of. Right up there with "do you believe in miracles? Yes!"
And the Rangers you've come to know and
love tolerate are back. They allow a soft goal to relinquish the lead. BTW this has all happened in like five minutes of real time. 2:24 game time.
So they're showing highlights of the Rangers season and it's like 30 seconds long. Which is impressive that they found that many highlights, but then you realize that they're cutting in video of past glory, ala the Stanley Cup, and you go "ah, I knew this was too long to be all this year's highlights."
In case you can't tell this has broken my heart. And my will not to be a full time alcoholic. It's sad but it's a one goal game and the entire arena has given up on this team.
On the bright side I've discovered that the EP I couldn't buy isn't out yet.

The worst part about the Rangers is that it's veterans making rookie mistakes. It's like they're actively trying to get their coach fired. Is it sad that I can't even get excited by a last minute goal that ties the game? That's how apathetic this team has made me.

So you know right before the videos I mentioned it's like the Rangers were actively trying to get their coach fired? Well mission accomplished. As of like 10 hours after the game ended he was fired. I feel bad for the guy, he was a class act. And even though he wasn't the perfect coach, his team is severely lacking key components and he deserved to get more effort from some of the veterans who gave so much respect to and yet they couldn't help him out. And yes I'm partially looking at hero of mine Chris Drury. Not that you care.
I've realized I am very much lacking direction in my life. It's entirely my fault but I wish I had something even relatively unimportant to look forward to after work. Even if it's a video game, a book, some sense of "ok, just two more hours and then I get to get back to this." Ideally it would be a woman but I'm setting the bar kind of low. I've got some friends who have recently gotten into a certain book series and it kept them occupied in their free time. And books, even if poorly written are a much better use of time than me sitting here listening to music and thinking about how much I hate myself(which isn't much, because honestly I'm perfect in nearly every way).
Speaking of Twilight, apparently my mom has a copy of the book. If I don't find anything interesting to read after finishing the two books I'm currently reading I may give it a whirl just to see how it is.
So here are a few random things I don't like...
-People who use the term whoopie instead of saying sex or something.
-People who say "cuss" instead of curse. Is there a reason for this? Someone care to explain.
