Since the Beat Dungeon Radio show, hosted by nsu, Romantech & Nikolozi, was first slotted into the weekly rotation of Auckland's UP FM, the team's mission has been to push locally made electronic and dance music, be it from Kiwi artists currently conquering the globe or the budding bedroom producers.
9 months, 12 guests, some 40 podcasts, and countless laughs later, just in time for New Zealand Music Month, Beat Dungeon Radio brings you "Sonic Confinement", a compilation featuring a diverse set of tracks by artists from over New Zealand. The compilation, made up of contributions from 11 of the featured guests as well as a track by each of the 3 show hosts, is a snapshot of the first chapter of Beat Dungeon's existence.
Starting off with the dark, vocal driven drum'n'bass of Haluciagea, the mix moves through a range of moods and tempos. After Romantech's uplifting liquid number "Gonna Getcha", it's time for a breather with a couple of downbeat tunes, including a chilling and haunting collaboration between Stray Theories and Willow. A bad-boy house tune by Tech and a dirty electro number by mcenergy slowly pick up the pace as the mix builds for the epic finale by Squeezer Project.
Dub, electro house, drum'n'bass, you name it - you won't be disappointed.
