The Yellers—who alternate between the modifiers “Old” and “Auld”—are newbies by comparison, having formed in 2003. But their deft Americana is at least four decades old, recalling the boogie of Canned Heat, the sweet melodicism of the Band and, in its nimble guitar work, the Grateful Dead. Matthew Singer, Willamette Week, 2009

The Old Yellers [American Roots Music] are something to behold.  This band isn't just old timey, laid back, sweet country sounds of yesterday.  No Sir!  They are also foot stompin, rabble rousing, hootin and hollerin good time music of here and now.  They have it all, great harmonies, tender ballads, and nothin but good times.  You just get yourself down to catch them if you can.
Burlingame Review, May 2007.

The Old Yellers [AMERICANA] have several things going for them.  Singer/Guitarist Michael Berly who's deep, expressive voice and gregarious presence on and offstage draws talented players and appreciative audiences alike.  Musicians like Matt Voth and Darin Joye, who make music come to life in a way that is palpable to everyone who attends their impressive live shows.  And nowadays, if all else fails, Berly has his acupuncture practice to fall back on in case all of the above come to naught, which is unlikely.   Don't miss this band.
Jeff Rosenberg, Willamette Week, June 2008.

PORTLAND, OR Friday, March 17 at venues across the kingdom, McMenamins will offer live music, Irish dancing, and even a bagpiper or two in celebration of St. Patricks Day. Bring the kids, friends, and family and raise a rousing cheer for ol Paddy with our seasonal Irish Stout, handcrafted using green, eco-friendly energy.  Again this year, back by popular demand, The Old Yellers grace the stage mixing Irish music, Americana, great ballads, and rock and roll with original songwriting.  This band of talented musicians puts on one heck of a live show every time they hit the stage.  If last years show is any indication of what is to come, prepare for all manner of hullabaloo and jubilee. McMenamins Press Release, March 2008.

A roots rock band from Portland, Oregon, The Old Yellers are a talented group of musicians/songwriters that combine the stomp of a backwoods hoedown, whiskey infused honky tonk, high-energy rock and roll, and sweet ballads with solid songwriting.  Their large repertoire of original music fits in perfectly with tried and true traditional songs and all the classics.
Curtis Waterbury, CitySearch, October 2005.

The Old Yellers have earned a solid reputation and represent what is great about live music. Solid vocals and harmonies, good songwriting, and diverse instrumentation gets the room up dancing, segues to fine ballads, rocks, rolls, jigs, reels, and always homes back to the honky tonk. This band simply rocks. This Americana roots rock is down-home goodness at its finest.
