This is another in the series of blogs about how to properly go about booking and performing at Zakks. We will continue to put out these blogs as time allows. All bands doing any business with us should and must read all the blogs and understand before their performance. This blog will deal with the promotion requirements of performing at Zakk's.
It will not be a complete guide to promoting by any means, but instead is the MINIMAL amount of promotion we require to keep a date. ANY band whether local or national that fails to obviously and thoroughly promote to the best of their abilities risks being canceled at any time!

Our minimum promotion requirements are:

Headliner- tour posters for the venue/
proper listing on their myspace and websites/
mp3s or cd's if available
internet flyers distributed thoroughly
direct contact made with support bands on the show
providing access to all advertising sponsors and label/management


Non-headliner -

posting of all flyers and bulletins
posting of physical flyers properly within the region
direct contact with the other bands on the show and coordination of promotion
securing sponsors for advertising
message fans asking them to support the show and/or buy advance tickets
coordinate with the headliner band or their management to assist in promoting as a team!

The reasons for all of this should be obvious to any band with a show at Zakks!

We get asked all sorts concerning all sorts of things of little consequence to the true success of the event.In all events of this sort at an underground type of original venue, ATTENDANCE IS THE REAL CHALLENGE AND ISSUE FOR ALL SHOWS!!!!

ATTENDANCE IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE PROMOTION ABILITIES OF A BAND!

WHILE YOUR MUSIC IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US, YOUR BAND WILL BE JUDGED MORE ON YOUR PROMOTION SKILLS AND EFFORT AND ALSO YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS GETTING THE JOB DONE!!

 IF YOU WANT US TO TAKE YOUR BAND SERIOUSLY, THEN YOU MUST IMPRESS US BY TAKING OUR BUSINESS SERIOUSLY FIRST!

THAT MEANS A SINCERE EFFORT TO PROMOTE ATTENDANCE!!

 AND IF YOU KNOW ME, YOU KNOW I MEAN A FULL AND COMPLETE TOTAL EFFORT!!

I DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR BANDS WHO ONLY KINDA WANT TO PLAY OR PROMOTE.

YOU HAVE TO WANT SUCCESS BADLY ENOUGH TO DO THE REAL WORK INVOLVED OR WE MAY CANCEL YOUR BAND'S DATE!

THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF BANDS AND ONLY A VERY FEW TRUE ORIGINAL VENUES THAT LAST OVER 10 YEARS!!

WE WILL SUPPORT YOUR BAND ON THE LEVEL OF TEAM EFFORT THAT WE SEE COMING FROM YOUR BAND. THE MORE YOU DO AS WE ASK AND REQUIRE, THE MORE WE WILL DO FOR YOU IN RETURN!

IF WE FIND OUT A BAND HAS FAILED TO PROMOTE OR IF A HEADLINER FAILS TO PROVIDE US WITH PROPER PROMOTIONAL SUPPORT,MATERIALS AND COOPERATION, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL THEIR PERFORMANCE AT ANY TIME!!

NOW LETS GET OFF OUR BUTTS AND SEE SOME AD SPONSORS, FLYERS IN STORES, BULLETINS ON TNE INTERNET, MENTIONS IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER AND POSTS ALL OVER THE WEB! LET'S GET PEOPLE OUT TO THE SHOWS NO MATTER HOW MUCH EFFORT IT TAKES!! WORK SMART,WORK TOGETHER AND WORK LONG HOURS AND EVENTUALLY THE CROWDS WILL GROW!

WE HAVE ALL KINDS OF IDEAS AND METHODS OF PROMOTION, SO GET UP WITH US IF YOU NEED ANY HELP GETTING THE PROMOTIONS SET FOR YOUR BAND'S SHOW!!
