Good morning folks..
Hope yours is going well..unlike mine!
My current job situation has gotten me so worked up that I feel I must write this blog in order to enlighten others about the severity of getting a job as a make up artist
(I tried to put up some pics of my work but they're far too big and little miss stuck in the stone age here hasnt got the newer version of paint shop pro....hmph!!)
So...here's my own tribute to Murphy's Law
1.In order to get work in the film industry as a make up artist..you must be a member of S.I.P.T.U..this is a union for all types of industries..and it is a necessity in my particular area.
2.In order to join S.I.P.T.U you must have 4 signatures off people in your area..e.g-in my case I must have a Chief Make Up Artists signature(yeah....trying to get that is like trying to get Ms.Spears to own up to the fake boobulars) and then a Trainee's signature, plus two signatures off like camera men, wardrobe people..hair etc.
3.Now..heres the catch
You will not get any signatures unless you have worked with the possible sponsors and proved yourself worthy of a S.I.P.T.U membership...
Yet you cannot work with them on a job(beit film or whatever) unless you are a member of bloody S.I.P.T.U!!!!!!!
Its a farse!!!
The only way of ever getting a job in this joke of an industry is if you are like best friends with a chief make up artist and sleeping with the rest of them!!Even then you would be cutting it fine...never mind if you are the picasso of make up artistry..if you dont have connections you will not make it over here!
It's a CLOSED market.
So there you are guys and gallions..
I'm off to work in the Spar round the corner..least you don't have to be a member of anything to work there........................Or DoYou??????
