Been a while since I Cablog'd But this one's necessary. Got a call today from the Cabstand. Officer Chuckles, a fellow driver and p/t dispatcher, Passed away today. Cancer. He'd been getting chemo treatments over the past year For colon cancer But much of the cancer had already spread to other parts of his body. And it got the best of him. Since I'd quit driving the cab, He and I had kept in touch. He'd give me progress reports on his condition and the sometimes miserable conditions of the University Medical Center. Mostly we'd just talk shit. Guitar shit, actually. He was an unrepentant 80's shred fan. But overall, he just liked loud rock and roll...especically metal. During my 4 year tenure with the Cab Co., He and I got in many arguments. Mostly when he was dispatching Over stupid shit. Like him mumbling. And me being deaf. Or shitty calls. Whatnot. But like arguments with all good buddies, The heat and anger faded pretty quickly. Within a day. So here's to Chuckles. Good dude. Good man. He did the best he could with what he had. May his soul live on. R.I.P. Charles Hebert.
