The landlord at Boyle Heights’ historic Wyvernwood Garden Apartments wants to demolish the homes to build luxury condos, DISPLACING OVER ONE THOUSAND FAMILIES!!! He says that he would be improving the barrio... BUT HIS PLAN WOULD MAKE SURE THAT THE CURRENT RESIDENTS CAN’T STAY TO ENJOY IT!!!!! He says that the place is infested with gangs and criminals.....BUT CRIME AT WYVERNWOOD IS THE LOWEST IN DECADES!!! He says that the community supports his plan.....BUT NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!!! The landlord is already illegally evicting long-term tenants, specially targeting the elderly and families with children. If Wyvernwood is lost to developer-driven gentrification, we can be sure the rest of Boyle Heights will soon follow and few will be left to tell the story.
