There's a great review of our debut release in this months LA Record, available in LA now.
Go check it out!
In the words of John Milton, "The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make heaven of Hell, and a hell of Heaven. A probable followers of JAMC's music and BRMC's stage performance, Lower Heaven have been praised by crowds, though the quartet offer a different sound in their debut release, Ashes. In the space between the Verves
"Bitter Sweet Symphony" and the Black Rebel Motorcycles "Salvation,"Lower Heaven reach towards neo-psychedelic and shoegaze genres. What sets them apart, however, is their vocalist and their electroharp, which adds up to something like an angel and a monk together. "Farewell Theme" brings me to the Renaissance Fair -- not so much "Greensleeves," but majestic and enchanting nonetheless. Other tracks are influenced by Spanish Western, and variously medieval openers. This type of music makes you feel hopeless and distant from the world to the point where i get lost in my senses. It encompasses a particular sadness-something like a desert rose, and I'm not talking about Sting. If you can't lower heaven, then raise hell like the band and remember the Echo and the Bunnymen lyric.
