Rock n Bowl is hosting a Retro Bowling Benefit for the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund on July 18 with Clockwork Elvis and The Unnaturals. Come on out to rock and bowl retro style! Doors open at 9 p.m. and tickets are $10. Rock n Bowl is now located at 3000 S. Carrolton Ave. Details are available at 861-1700, or at nomrf.org.

The New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund, a 501(c)3 grass roots charity, is grateful to those who have contributed three pianos in the last year, one more on the way. That total includes two baby grands (one to a teacher from our friends at Pearl River). The charity has also contributed evacuation vehicles, electric guitars, horns, concertinas and more. We're sorting through 10,000 strings donated by Taylor Guitars to help New Orleans musicians rock on. Hallmark Magazine recommended donating instruments to displaced musicians (tip #2), and so did Blog Action Day ( tip #10).

Over Festival Season, Dr. John, Marcia Ball, Joe Krown, Tom Worrell, Papa Gros, Bob Andrews and Cynthia Chen played. More than three years post-Katrina, instruments are still rolling in, and all help is deeply appreciated.
