Paid a deposit to the contractor/builder today for my front door project--a new front door, sidelights, and storm door; plus an extended roofline to cover the front step.
Now, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I had an initial budget in mind, and the contractor thought, for sure, that he/we would be able to get the project done within my budget. Unfortunately, the brick guys' bids are a bit higher than even he expected. At our "meeting" this morning, I told him to nix the brick columns--cost for the two columns was going to be $3000....which put me about $2000-2300 over alotted budget.
I mentioned this to Rob tonight, to which he then says if I want the brick columns to go ahead and do it....because it's probably not going to get done in the future.
Let me also note that I sold my dad's bobcat earlier this Spring--the money from that sale is what is paying for the front door project.....so, if I do go with the brick columns, we would be paying about $2000 of non-bobcat money.
So, what do I do? Stick with plan B? Or, go with the brick columns, going over my initial budget?
