Who Gives Kudos:

Monday, September 01, 2008

Hi all.  Thursday night somebody stole my acoustic out of the front seat of my car while it was in my driveway.  This is the only acoustic I own and the only guitar I play well.  I realize that ever seeing it again is a long shot, but on the off chance that someone in the Chippewa Falls area gets word of someone at school with a Takamine that they didn't have before or something like that I'd really appreciate a heads up.  That guiar means a lot to me and I'd really like it back.  It was a gift from my wife and the only acoustic I've ever owned, ever performed with, recorded with, written songs on, etc.

Here are the deets:

It's a cut-away cedar-top Takamine w/ a rosewood fret board with no inlays and a tuner on the pickup console (I don't know the model number off hand).  It has no pick guard and where the pick guard generally is the wood is pretty noticablly worn.  There is a 1/2" or so dent above the sound hole where a candle stick fell into it and a small dent on the back of the fretboard behind the 5th fret.  It's in a black hard plastic case that says 'Takamine' on the front and is missing two resting pegs on the bottom which makes it lean slightly when you set it down.

Like I said, I know it's a long shot, but I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks a ton,
Greg

So sorry that happened to you. People just stink sometimes. Hope you find it.

Hi Greg,
Wow, that really sucks!! I've had a few guitars stolen over the years and I have to say that it's one of the worst feelings ever.

I had an ealy 60's Gibson Jumbo L stolen out of my apartment back in the 80's. I'm pretty sure I know where it is now but it was so long after it was stolen that I saw it, it was just to late to do anything about.

I saw it being played by Sheryl Crow on the Grammys so I guess it wound up in a good place anyway.

My Taylor 615, with which I recorded my first 4 solo CD's, I've never seen again.

When my Taylor was stolen I did make the best of it and bought my Larravee which is a lot better guitar. It's not much of a silver lining, but I am glad now that I have the Larravee as a main guiatr instead.

Good luck finding your guitar and if you don't find it soon and buy another I hope it turns out as well as it did for me.

See you next week at "Earthtones"!!!
Brian

that sucks! this happened to my friend, singer-songwriter, Andy Zipf, but he recovered his Martin, thankfully. Good hearing you in Lancaster awhile back by the by.
