Dear friends,
I just received a reply from Myspace about the strange emails and comments we have been receiving, and this is thier comment. Please do as they say and hopefully it can all be stopped. If not, let me know and I will contact Myspace again.
Darcy
Hello,
We think your MySpace account has been phished. In other words, someone has gotten access to your profile and has been sending out messages to your friends or the larger MySpace community.
First thing you should do is change your password, here's how:
1. click My Account (from the upper right corner of the nav bar)
2. click Password (from the nav bar)
3. follow the easy prompts and click Save All Changes (at the bottom of the page) and you're done!
Here are some suggestions on how to eliminate phishing from your profile:
1. mouse over Mail (in the upper nav bar), choose Sent Mail (from the drop-down menu) and delete any messages from folks you don't know
2. compose new Email messages instead of forwarding old ones (since they might contain spam content)
3. delete links to potential spam sites by mousing over Profile (in the upper nav bar), choosing Edit Profile (from the drop-down menu) and clicking About Me and Interests; remove any suspicious HTML and CSS code from the content boxes (any link or image you don't remember adding)
4. delete comments on your profile from people you don't know (they may link to phishing sites)
5. delete friends you don't remember adding
6. delete sent friend requests you don't recall sending by mousing over Mail (in the upper nav bar) and choosing Sent Requests (from the drop-down menu)
If you've done all of that and you're still getting phishing alerts or having trouble accessing your profile, please reply to this Email, leaving the subject line intact, and we'll try our best to get back to you within 48 hours.
