Casting Call for Indie Film

Biding Time is a short film about a young girl from Northern Uganda experiencing crises during the genocide of the Acholi Ugandans in the mid ’80s-present. Currently seeking males and females of all ages for a short of the film.

Dates:  Saturday March 22 and 29

Times: 1PM-5PM

Location: Pearl of Africa (Gates of Zion) 624 South Street Philadelphia PA 19147.

Those attending should be prepared with a 2-5 minute monologue of their choice.

Film being produced by independent student filmmaker… There is no pay.

Food will be provided.
Travel arrangements negotiable.

PRINCIPLE ROLES

YOUNG ASMA: age 7-9 shy, playful and "tom-boyish".

ASMA: age 18-24 an observant, sincere and gentle young woman who is very inhibited and cautious, but smiles when appropriate. Does not talk very openly, but is approachable and warm.

YOUNG AMINATA: age 9-12. Timid, sensitive and alert.

YOUNG ILYAA: age 10-12 talkative, friendly and animated.

ILYAA: age 21-25 a very extroverted young man with much insecurity. Appears friendly and weak, but is very tactful when he feels he needs to be.

MRS. DAUDI (YEYO): ASMA and ILYAA’s mother. Calm, reserved woman in her mid 30s.

MR. DAUDI (BABA): ASMA and ILYAA’s father. Strong-willed man in his late 30s who is very stern and polite. His manner intimidates other men, but he is very kind.

COMMANDER ASD: Commander for the Lord’s Resistance Army’s child division. An Acholi man in his mid 40s, he is manipulative, calculating and charming. He is also very intimidated by other men, so tries as much as he can to avoid them.

HASANA BARA: Documenter. Nervous, soft spoken young woman in her early 30s.

YUNUS BARA: HASANA’s husband and co-director. Sympathetic, gentle and introverted. Mid 30s.

YASIEN BARA: YUNUS’s younger brother. A young boy in his early teens. Adventurous and clever.

AMINATA: age 21-25 ILYAA’s wife. Sensitive, careful and pleasant.

JANA: 0-2 AMINATA and ILYAA’s daughter.

YOUNG MAN: 18-30

SOLDIER I: 18-25
