Hey all, new stories and poems to appear soon in Fall 2009.    I am working on a private poetry project, novel edits, and honing story collections.  Tell me what you're up to if you get a chance.  In September 2009, my desk was featured in the Fictionaut Blog's Writing Spaces series, where I talk about where I write, so please drop in and comment if you get the inclination.

About the Pubs--Recent Short Stories Out and Available:

November 2009:  BlazeVOX Fall 09 issue publishes a literary experimental piece called "Love Child"   and Emprise Review, Volume 11, publishes a traditional literary story about a MANfusal called "Gift Horse."  Also, two form poems out at The Medulla Review.  Check them out! :)

October 2009:  DOGZPLOT Fall 09 issue publishes a magical realism piece called "Bloom In Any Season."   Additionally, this Halloween, a story to be released in the surrealistic and delicious  Surreal South '09 (print) fiction anthology edited by Laura & Pinckney Benedict, out from Press 53.

August 2009:   decomP publishes a story called
"About Husbands and the Dog."  A  sleeper of a piece about love for man and animals!

July 2009:    JMWW has just released a piece of my flash fiction called "If I Kiss That Girl"--drop in and check it out.

June 2009:  A Cappella Zoo has now made the contents of the print journal live on their cyberspace, so my story "Beautiful Ape Girl Baby" now gets a second life.   Praise be to the mother... LOL!

As a lark, I was interviewed by the lovely Fiona Robyn as one of her first 10 readers for The Blue Handbag.  Check it out!

Also, new story about swingers out at PANK, thank the lovely Roxane Gay for selecting it.

May 2009: My edgy  Word Riot piece was listed as a Notable Story of 2008 and winnowed through the mass of gorgeous work to reach the Notable Stories shortlist in Jason Sanford's Million Writer's Awards 2009.   Some amazing stories there to read, if anyone has interest.

April 2009:  One story came out with the venerable Night Train this month in issue 9.1.
Also, a new magical realism story just released at The Abacot Journal.  Pop in and take a look.

March 2009:  Paul Toth does it again.  Another innovative idea!  Check out his new online journal Hit and Run Magazine, which works as a visual collective of "the raw materials of fiction, poetry and other creative work: scrap metal; index cards; napkin notes" et al, where a portion of a story in progress, a single page, handwritten, with doodle, has been posted.  Also, submit if you will!

November 2008--Underground Voices has just published a magical realism/paranormal piece of mine called "The Rose Lamp".  They were even kind enough to put a beautiful painting along with it.  Can't say enough good about this journal.  Please drop in and check it out.

October 2008--a new story entitled "Beautiful Ape Girl Baby" has just been published in the premiere issue of the print journal A Cappella Zoo.  This piece is not available online, but check out the A Cappella Zoo.  They just had their second edition come out and it is lovely too!

August 2008.  Three stories came out, so I'll speak to them a little.
I was delighted to have an experimental piece out with SubLit called "Three Photos" that uses a narrative device of faux photographs to tell the tale of the familial downfall of an unreliable narrator.

And also lucky to have a dystopic story out in print in the UK called "This Time, While We're Awake"  in Trespass Magazine, so hello, my lovely English friends--yay!--a story has hit your soil.  Check out the August/September issue.

Additionally, a lovely little flash fiction called "Catholic Girl Smile"  went live at KeyHole Magazine.  :)

______

June 2008:--Earlier, this June, Alessia Brio's recent erotic anthology Coming Together: With Pride (all proceeds go to charity) came out and I'm delighted to say I have a piece in it.  Here's a blurb about the project from her blog.

"

May 2008--An edgy little piece  came out in Word Riot  entitled "You Are One Click Away From Pictures of Nude Girls"--(NOTE: I had this story linked in, but Myspace made the link come out spam due to the naughty nature of the story title.  Ach!  Click the venue above and you can get to it. :)

Also, in May, I placed a crime-noir story in Steven J. McDermott's Storyglossia--where stories matter--in the May 2008 issue, #  28, guest edited by Anthony Neil Smith entitled "The Humming"

June (print)/Feb 2008 (online):  A microfiction was issued from Dogzplot myspace, blog, and print collection entitled   "I Found It Inside of Me"

Fall 2007--A story came out in Temenos, the Fall 2007 issue, called  "If There is An Airport"

Also in Fall 2007, A story was published at the Mississippi Review.com in the October 2007 hyper-extended family issue, edited by Darlin' Neal, entitled "A Cat For Greta"

 An Essay and a Poem:

Though I rarely venture into writing essays, at the request of my talented, artist and photographer friend Rhys Jones, I have written an essay about how to get past writer's block, with a small poem from my fairy tales book attached.  Both are posted on his 20/20 Vision page here on myspace. 20/20 is a site intended to foster international collaborations between artists. Check it out if you're interested.  The title of the essay is "Why Art Is Necessary - On Finding the Motivation to Create".
