Who Gives Kudos:

Sunday, October 01, 2006
As some of you may know, yesterday was my birthday. Yes, it was happy and I want to thank everyone for all the Birthday wishes. I had an awesome day.

Anyway, Friday night, I get a call from my friend Phil who knows everybody and he tells me Blue Oyster Cult is doing a free show in Rockville, md and he can arrange backstage passes for me, but he needs to know by 12 noon the next day... the day of the concert.

I called everybody I know, but everyone was busy, so the next morning I started calling gain to those that I left messages for. The deal was at that point, first come first serve. A mYSpace friend happen to be the person who won the draw.

The show was incredible. The played all of the best of Blue Oyster Cult. I have been listening to BOC since I was in junior high and know most of the words to all the songs and have never stopped loving them, but I am here to tell you, there is nothing like a live show. Yes, the songs are different from what you hear when you hear a recording, not the sterilized version. What you get live is the true artistic application to a familiar medium. For instance, the familir Godzilla in this preformace was used to allow band members a solo during the traditional instrumental section of the song. These are the things that are illiminated in a recording studio, but make the show a unique experience.

Once backstage, I was surprised at the similarity in conversation this world reknown band had in comparison to the conversations our local bands have. The sound was a little off. I could have done this better. I thought my strings were going to break. In the audience, I noticed none of this, but I felt as if I had been there before. Once the show talk was over, talk turned to the usual conversations anyone could have had. Sienfeld, and memiors of the lady back home who taught one of them the Evil Eye and what it meant. The banana cream pie they had waiting in the back of the bus was better than sex. It was all so casual and if I did not know better, I could have been with one of the bands that I am friendly with.

Did I get a signature? Yes, from two if the guys who had a moment to spare before they left to get on their way to other things. On my chest. They are already starting the smear and I'm going to have to be careful how I bath for the rest of my life. After all, I am a bandaid.
