There's nothing like having to face illness to appreciate good health. I still have a slight cough from that flu bug that went around, but otherwise, doing well. Danny is back to his usual goofy self too.
The homeschooling is coming along nicely. One issue we still face is how Daniel still considers anything with the word 'school' in it as 'bad'. Learning can be fun, and I'm hoping to instill this into his brain in one form or another. I'm considering letting Daniel one day a week to 'unschool'. This allows him to decide on what he wants to learn.
He wasn't so sure about this unschooling idea. He said to me, "You know me, mom, that I can't come up with ideas on my own." Well that is the idea; to get him into practice to think and do for himself. He used to excel at entertaining himself, whether it was building guns out of Legos or creating small cities in his bedroom with old boxes and his Matchbox cars.
Some subjects he does show a natural interest in. We were learning some words in Mandarin just for fun, and then later we explored this neat game at FreeRice.com. You test your knowledge while earning free rice for those who are hungry in the world.

They've added new subjects too such as Language, Math, and even Geography.
I've also been working on adding RSS feeds to my IGoogle start page. This is easy to do when you find a site that has RSS feeds, often with the symbol of

What this does is add a 'live feed' to a start page (IGoogle, MSN, or even Yahoo among others). I have a page dedicated to homeschool feeds, another on Zen, another on Pagan topics, and another all on writing. You can also add to a reader such as Google's reader.
So many blogs, so little time to read them. I tend to sift through subjects to where I avoid the nonsense. I tend to pick blogs that are personal stories, informative, and also update on a semi-regular basis.
I've also been reading a very good book entitled "Feel the Fear; Do it Anyway" by Susan Jeffers. Its about indecision, anger, and fear, and how to overcome them as obstacle. So far, I like it- a lot. Its very inspiring, and I like how she argues about pushing
through fear instead of trying to find ways to get rid of fear. We all fear. We all need to face our fears.
