According to a recent ABC news story the Government may be looking to slow down the growing popularity of social sites like MySpace:
ABC News: Update: House Bill Might Ban MySpace, FriendsterA Pennsylvania congressman has introduced legislation that would ban minors from accessing social networking websites such as MySpace, and forbid libraries from making such access available
Is the government acting in the best interests of it's constituents or just re-acting to the fears of parents? It would seem that banning teens from something would be a surefire way to get them to want to use the service. Perhaps working on ways to educate teens to the dangers and inform parents on what to look out for they might be doing a better job serving the people who voted them into office.
