Our song "The Furies' Prayer" is inaccurately titled on the Sky So Grey comp CD as "Mary Lucifer". This misnaming originates from a mistake made in the original printing of the album "The Furies' Prayer", where the two songs were reversed.

To be clear, our song that is on Sky So Grey is actually entitled "The Furies' Prayer." (Track 13 on SSG).

To get the song in its originally intended accurately named form, please go to iTunes or CD baby and download a copy there (all online music is accurately named).

I am hoping to be able to reprint the The Furies' Prayer CD with the titles accurately placed, but I have thus far been unable to do so due to budgetary concerns. In fact, the original error was created by some of those same issues. Right now I am working to come up with a way to address this issue so that my legacy as an artist, and the legacy of the Furies themselves, are set right.

I'd also love to hear from you:

In the meantime, let me tell you a little bit more about this song:

The Furies' Prayer is a song dedicated to the Furies, Greek goddesses of justice and retribution. The words are their voice, and the song was adapted from the the Orestia, a Greek tragedy written by Aeschylus. In the story, the Furies are out to avenge the matricide of Orestes mother, Clytmenestra, but are thwarted in doing so to make way for the power of the newer patriarchal gods, the Olympians. The words in The Furies' Prayer are their testimony to their own power and authority through the ages; it is they that insure that your deeds will always catch up with you. The Furies were demoted to becoming The Eumenides ("The Kindly Ones"), and since then they have waited underground for the power of the Great Goddess to return.

The Furies are the patron goddesses of those who have been disenfranchised through "the system". They preside over the natural laws of the of the earth itself.

I shall let the Furies speak for themselves:

It's our missions bloodright
we're not sent
ever to harm the innocent
show us your hands,
if they're not red...
you'll sleep soundly in your bed

Show us your hands: left-right
you'll live unhunted if they're white
show us your hands, there's one we know
who's hands are red and daren't show
With men like him who's hands are red
we are the bloodgrudge of the Dead
The she-god of life lot gave us this power
Ours, ours, ours.

We're different than the Olympians
Food's offered to wither but never together
We don't wear white robes
And they don't wear black
No.

Those who kill their kin we hound
Until we've got them underground
when blood-kin kills blood-kin
That's what lets the furies in
The blood that trickles on the ground's
not balls of thread to be re-round
our band of witnesses pursue
sthe killer for blood dues

Seek, seek, scour the ground
The mother-killer has got to be found
sniff at the trail, the blood's still wet
don't let him flee from his debt
No!

He tries to run--oh let him try!
A blood-kin's blood will never dry
Victim, victim, listen--our song:
The Furies' lullaby....

Show us the man who can stop himself shaking
when he hears me lay claim claim to my rights and my titles
Ratified by fate, and never--never rescinded
My honors are ancient, and in no way diminished
though I work underground in the earth where its sunless
and dance the doom-death dance, displayed.

That's how it is
And that's how its staying
We've got all the skills
We get things accomplished
We memorize murders
and we never forget them
we're dispised, we're rejected
the light we work by
is nothing like sunshine
sharp and sheer sided
our tracks are a peril
to blind, and to sighted

Hades death god holds asize
a man's deed when he dies
death god Hades won't forget
the deed of blood and the blood debt

You upstart gods
You've ridden down
my ancient laws
snatched my honors
out of my hands!
my rancors roused
my heart will ooze black venom out
over the land
until its waste
Bloodright!
Bloodright!

The earth all scorched!
The people starve!
They mock me
my wrongs too much...
Daughters of Night
degraded and crushed.

Silence while the Kind Ones Pass
Silence while the Kind Ones Pass
Silence while the Kind Ones Pass
