Serbia's Concrete DJz are at the forefront of the harder Techno scene at the moment with the wicked Armatura label, releases
left right and centre and their mindblowing live shows, so I deceided to catch up with them for a brief two minute chat about
what is in store from these guys! How did you come up with the name 'Concrete DJz'?Well, in the beginning there were 2 crews, both with 2 men in. We came to a point where we wanted to create a new DJ & production
team under one name, so we looked at what we produce, play and represent as a whole (which is the harder edge of techno spectrum)
and came with the name Concrete DJz. The sound is as firm as concrete, plus there are four main ingredients to form concrete which
are rebar, water, sand, cement, and there are four of us (DJ Mitam Matsura, Filip Xavi + DJ Luka).
Given the huge political activity associated with Serbia, is there a huge techno scene?
Yeah! Serbia is well known for its relentless audience at techno parties. Many legendary events take place in Serbia and many
respected artists only have nice words to say for the crowd out here. At the moment lots of young techno artists and DJs who
play and produce in Serbia surface with their events, productions, magazines etc. So the nightlife appeal for techno is getting
better and bigger.
What projects and future plans do you have to unleash upon us soon?Lots of vinyl releases are in process, we are very happy have our German debut release on Crowbar Recordings (ran by DJ Amok)
entitled "In The war", which is out in June. We have also signed tracks to Holland's Beatboost Records, Betamechanical Records,
a new collaboration with DJ Ogi on Submissions 026, and also a remix we did for UK hard trance label Compulzion 002 are forthcoming.
Besides vinyl releases we have just put out new EP on our digital label Armatura with some nice remixes. The year is busy with gigs
for us as we visit Brazil, Italy,Russia, Holland, England, Bulgaria and many other countries with our live show.
