........
2nd week of recording....
So we've come to the end of the first
stage of recording the album. 14 long (but fun-filled) days of
working out arrangements, feels, parts and then recording as much as
we could live...principally bass and drums. Thanks so much to Brett
and Mike who have since, sadly left us and moved on to projects new
(I don't mean they've died, they're just off doing other stuff !)
We finished up all the bass and drum
stuff last Friday, the 28th of August. 14 tracks in total,
which gives us a bit of lee way to pick and choose the final 10 or 11
for the album. There might be another EP that comes out of the
'left-over' tracks...we'll need to wait and see about that.
At the weekend we added some
percussiony stuff: shakers, tambourines etc and then started
recording the grand piano on Sunday. It's a Stuart grand piano and
resides permanently here at studio one in Alberts. Damn it sounds
good.
So today, after being back at work for
the last 2 days (meh) we've moved out of studio 1 and into Michaels
room, the aptly named, eh, studio 2. It's a smaller, dungeon like
room with no windows at all so, even though it's sunny and 20 odd
degrees here everyday in Sydney at the moment, we're probably gonna
look like weird little coffee-fueled, sleep and sun deprived ghosts
at the end of all this. But then, hopefully, we'll be clutching a
finished record in our emaciated little hands.....and smiling like
lunatics.
Off for some lunch now. Michael's
messing around with some drum takes on pro-tools and I'm sitting here
bored writing a blog. It's not all glamour, sex, drugs and rock n
roll you know!
Think I might have a sandwich.
