Yesterday we arrived in Leeds at 4. Picked up Eric Cheneux who is playing with us tonight. He is a great singersongwriter on the label Constellation. Than a short visit at Elly's. I finally saw Oscar the dog again and Oscar and me chilled a bit in the bedroom. Tonight is a sort of houseshow in a big basement. Very cosy. The people who live in the house were so welcoming and sweet. We did a soundcheck. I was a bit bitchy but that happens when I don't sleep. I say everything that I think. After the soundcheck the audience arrived. A lot of friends I met before in Leeds. We all had dinner. That was a special moment. You will never get that in a normal venue. Sam Saunders, an old friend, came all the way from Otley and I loved seeying him. Eric played first and he was just wonderful. Very pure guy, quite logic when you know he is from Canada. His voice touched me.
We played a good set. I felt that we were all a bit, a lot, emotional. That made it even better. Playing for all these sweet people. I feel so much at home in this place. Rich and I didn't stop bullying eachother and the audience enjoyed it. Christophe sang so well and we tried some songs a little bit different. Sophie joined us for Prophets with her violin. I love that girl.
Paul, a friend or Rich and Adam, brought me a bottle of whiskey. So after the show we had a good time. Sitting outside the house, in my favorite neighbourhood of Leeds, fresh air. I felt really happy. It's great how I met these people and especially Rich, who did so much for me. Being on tour is a way of living that makes you feel free. As if normal life doesn't exist. Strange if you consider I have kids. I really have to block that thought for now.
Rebecca, who lives in the house has been the best with her food and letting me sleep in her bed.
Me happy, very happy!!!! Thank you so much people for this warmth.
Today the road will take us to Newcastle. But first I want to spend some time with Elly and finally take Oscar for a walk.
