Gig in Newcastle.
It was so good to be in Leeds and see all these sweet people. Rebecca gave me a flower when we left and that almost made my cry (you know me...). The drive to Newcastle was really easy and not too long. We played in a cute venue in the middle of the centre. Rich wasn't feeling too well. With his head in Paris and Christophe felt really good. I was in the middle because I still had some whisky playing around in my vains. The concert was nice. There we two amazing musicians playing before us. It was a quiet and not too big audience. Some great familiar faces aswell. Some songs were better than ever. Rich had a hard time but nobody could tell. He was again doing a good job. Christophe played really well and he told me he was very much into it. I was in the middle. After the show we went for a drink in the venue where I've played last september. John was our host. Such a sweet guy! (his voice...aaaagrhgrhgrjhgewjarughjw) I was bitching around a bit because I wanted to go to John's place so I could also have a drink ( me driving). yes Nick: Shanty was in the house! John lives in a great house. He has so many instruments! I found my whisky again. We all had a glass (thank you Paul..) and sang Low songs until late. I stayed with Rich in the livingroom. Feels as if he has a sort of sleepdrug. I sleep really well with him in the room. He is not moving or making any sound. It's also really nice to end the night talking a bit about the day. I slept well (again...) and we got up at 11h. The weather was just lovely and we went to pick up our instruments that we left in the venue. Than the drive up north to Edinburgh. Man...that really touched me. It was so beautiful. I felt very much alive and free. Just listening to Eric Chenaux in the car. People in Brussels and the rest of belgium, check out his music. He will play in Brussels the 22nd of march. Amazing. Sooooo, we arrived in Edinburgh. I love this city. I feel a bit dramatic because I don't feel like leaving tomorrow. I miss Mark, the kids and animals a lot. I really do. But being on the road like this has been so good. Tonight might be very special because of that. The venue is just perfect. Big. but very intimate in a way and a great soundguy and some beautiful bands playing before us. The not so nice part is that I have to drive back to Leeds after the gig otherwise I can't make it to the ferry tomorrow in time and it's Lóa's birthday sunday! I just did an interview and now I will leave you to it to relax with my guys.
Nothing Really Ends.
This is the title of a very nice dEUS song that Christophe mentioned in the car. Yesterday was such a special night! The people out there were extremely nice and sweet. The other bands played well and we even saw a guy called Chris singing about dogs! We started playing and the audience was quiet and sweet. We've played our best concert tonight. Maybe also because we felt all a bit emotional to play the last concert of the tour. All the songs were really special and we asked Chris to join us for Hotellounge. Sometimes everything makes sense. No doubts, thinking...This is why I love touring so much. After the concert I had to drive back to Leeds. Very heavy but also a funny ride. First 2 hours with Rich besides me and Christophe sleeping in the back. Rich tried to keep up a conversation and we ended up talking about stupid things because he had too much wine. After that Christophe took over the talkingshift and he enjoyed talking about bedsecrets! What else can a woman want? Arriving at Elly's felt so good. A warm house with a lovely dog to welcome us. Last night together! This morning we had coffee with Elly. That girl means a lot to me. We had to say goodbyes at 11 to drive to Dover in time to catch the ferry. I hated this! My friendship with Rich grew to a level I never expected. All the people we met this week and who invited us to stay in their houses. The great concerts and nice venues. The freedom.Just amazing. You get to know people so much better when you are touring. You are so far away from your safety-zone of work, relationships, kids..that makes people vunerable I guess. Being in the same team together brings you closer. Leaving is so hard!
I have the feeling that I have something special going on with the UK. I feel just too much at home.
Thank you to all the people we met, the promotors, the people who came to see us and most of all Rich to organised this tour so well.
Sorry Christophe and Rich for all the annoying jingles I made all day. I hope they will continue bothering you when phones are ringing.
What happens in Paris stays in Paris! You guys go for it!!!!! Nothing Really Ends I hope.
