Richard Sen (Padded Cell)
www.myspace.com/richardsen1
Graffiti
artist Richard Sen has been DJing since 1989 starting with a residency
at the legendary Crazy Club at the now deceased Astoria. Ecstacy, Acid
House and frequent trips to New York, visiting his heroes at Nu Groove
and Strictly Rhythm gave Richard the house music bug. He is known for
his production outfits Padded Cell and Bronx Dogs.
Highlights of his
career include: Heavenly Social residency 1998-2000, ‘DJ of the Month’
FACE 1998, being nominated for ‘Best New DJ’ MUZIK AWARDS 1998. He was
also a key influence on the 80’s underground graffiti movement in the
UK (and also one of the first to be sent to prison for graffiti!) and
appeared in the BBC television documentary Open Space ‘Bad Meaning
Good’ in 1987. His artwork has also graced the record covers of Sabres
of Paradise (‘Smokebelch’ and ‘Theme’). A full interview on his
graffiti and music work can be seen in the June 2005 issue of
Undercover magazine.
Richard now records with partner Neil Beatnik
under the name Padded Cell, they are signed to DC Recordings and
released an album in May 2008. Sen has also done his own solo remixes
for Cosmo Vitteli, Tirk and Black Devil Disco Club
In keeping with
the attitude from his graffiti background, Richard’s DJ style is
totally unique and it’s important for him not to be pigeonholed. He has
played big room house/techno sets and can also play crazy eclectic sets
including psyched out rock, leftfield cosmic funk and disco,
newave/electro oddities and early house obscurities
Future Sound of Clapton (Comadisco/Samurai FM)
http://www.myspace.com/fsochttp://www.samurai.fm/fsocFSoC
was born 4 years ago on a dark night in the heavily claustrophobic and
chemically-charged mist of Hackney marshes. The bastard child of
Techno-Electro-Disco heads DJ's Fumix and Marco, its birth was an
"accident" that sparked a string of underground parties in East-London,
a regular show on Samurai.fm together with gigs as far as Poland,
Italy, Singapore and Japan, and many, many, many Monday morning
hangovers! FSoC's latest extravaganza is "Comadisco", their bi-monthly
night in Dalston with guests such as Trevor Jackson, Ben Bloodbath,
Mugwump, Popnoname, Allez Allez etc..., steadily gaining popularity
amongst like-minded souls. With some remix work and their own production
in the pipeline, watch these guys blow up.
Moustache Mama’s
http://www.myspace.com/moustachemamasThere
is no denying it, the Moustache is becoming the new mullet, the modern
cowboy boot, the sideburn for the urban fashionista…The Moustache Mamas
don’t leave home without one - Always trimmed to perfection & and
waxed just right. For most it is a statement of cool, but for others it
is a statement of their history, and a physical embodiment of their
very soul.
Comprising their many years of vinyl collecting under
one gambit of muscle, the Mamas let loose with a special blend of
classic disco, dirty funk, syncopated pop favourites, new-disco & a
bit of yacht-rock (for the landlocked). Delivering Jump-suited genius
and armed with disco-demons that unleash themselves when these two
ladies unite: Helen Burnip & Tamara Deike – A Northerner, and a
North American – they hold their own (and their cocktails). With
influences that span from the southern Americas to the musical fusions
of folk with energy and political aggression from the north, the Mamas
have tackled social issues of femme-facial hair through their love of
music.
The Mamas are known to breakout in energetic Jane
Fonda-esque lunging behind the decks & incite moustached madness
from dance floor goers and demand you to bring your party-pants &
get your lip fur ready!
Neil Thornton (Lasermagnetic/ Tropicana)
www.myspace.com/neilo1
Neil
Thornton has been running disco parties in London for many moons now
alongside Lasermagnetic partner in crime Johnny Chingas. Memorable
parties they have thrown have included Greg Wlson's 'Credit to the
edit' album Launch, The Dr. Nishimura & Danny Wang Warehouse bash,
Discoconvention: a 3 room disco extravaganza with IF, Alden Tyrell
& Horse Meat Disco, Chromatics' first ever UK appearance, Typhoon
with Beppe Loda and a Moutain of One, Padded Cell’s Album release party
with Andrew Weatherall. Since then the boys have taken their brand of
high gloss, and underground disco with a twist of Rotterdam &
Berlin and Chicago to places like Fabric, Big Chill festival, Nouveau
Casino in Paris, Tape Club in Berlin. This year he has also been
co-running the Tropicana rooftop parties at The Queen of Hoxton.
CODED SOUL
Resident
controller of monthly Cruise Control plotting courses through new
spheres of electronic motion. Passing over deepest Berlin Stahd, future
Detroit City, Grimey London Town, The Hague Bunkers, The Kingston
Steppas and Rome Arpeggiators. Flies deep and low but supplies superior
elevation
Guille Bones (Not That)
http://www.myspace.com/guillebonessoGuille
Bones plays a special excursion into Disco, Deep House and Electronic
music His not that parties have been great fun and he is also
responsible for the fabulous art & music events Lucia Listens.
Dave Rose (Future Nature)
Dave
is veteran of the London underground club scene having played on the
circuit for over 15 years playing at some of the capitals coolest
joints. Renowned for his musical knowledge Dave loves to mix his sets
up so be prepared for the unexpected, but one thing is for sure is Mr
Rose knows how to rock a party. Over the past year he has been involved
in the Future Nature events taking place in East London.
