Thanks for all the comments....you guys are pretty cool. In the past couple days, I've tried to get away from my teenagers by just reading other blogs. BUT....after reading Trixie....Fuxsie....Cotton-bottom, or what ever she goes by these days, I've decided my teens aren't so bad.

______________________________________________________________________________

Who wants a good stuffing? In order to get a good stuffing, let's talk about it first....kinda like foreplay if you will. Since next week is Thanksgiving, I thought I'd list a few ideas. Here is a basic recipe:

STUFF THIS

1 cup chopped celery, ½ cup chopped onion, ½ cup butter, 1 tsp poultry seas, 1 tsp crushed sage, 8-10 cups bread crumbs, 1 cup- a can of chicken broth, salt & pepper to taste.

Saute onions and celery in butter. Add seasonings. Place bread crumbs in large bowl, and pour mixture over them. Add broth to moisten. Stuff your bird or bake at 350 for about a half an hour. Check with a meat thermometer....165-170.

You can spice it up with what ever you like. I've tried spicy sausage, crumbled bacon, mushrooms and even oysters. Hey, if you don't have bread crumbs, you can use HI-HO crackers. Another idea is to play around with the spices.....if you like a little heat, add some hot sauce, worcestershire, and some creole seasoning.

______________________________________________________________________________

Since Thanksgiving is coming up, I'd like to give some thanks. Somewhere around forty, our eyesight starts to go downhill.... I know mine did. I need reading glasses now. When it first started happening to me, I couldn't believe it, as I always had great eyesight! I asked family and friends about it, and they all agreed.....they too needed reading glasses about the time they turned forty. I thought it was a cruel joke at first. But I've come to realize, when God closes a door, he opens a window.

Ya see, My wife needs reading glasses as well, she too is blind as a bat up close. Sooo while in bed, when we say our "sweet nothings" to each other, she's not seeing the real me. She sees that handsome, unwrinkled, non-haggard, single chinned man, she met years ago. THANK YOU GOD!

You got anything to be thankful for this year....or do you want to talk turkey?

I have to laugh when I read, "he would remind us that the time to do right remains." and we are constructing a memorial to a dead man, [a great man mind you, but a dead man, that will cost 100 million dollars.

I hope the homeless and hungry will enjoy the memorial as well.

I take no pride in this country.

i just find more reasons to laugh and laugh and laugh...

Welcome back, Cowboy!
I have a lot to be thankful for. I've got good friends, a roof over my head, a car that runs, enough money for gas to put into it, most of my health and I live in the USA. How's that for a start?
Now that we've got that out of the way, let's talk turkey!
I found the coolest contraption. It's a stuffing cage. You put the stuffing in it, put it in the bird and then when the turkey is done, all the stuffing comes out in one fell swoop and you don't have bread floating on top of your stock when you make soup from the carcass. Is that cool or what??!!??
Oh, one more thing to be grateful for; my table is big enough to bang on. Whipped cream anyone?

There oughta be a law, Doug. NO glasses or eye aids in public, EVER!~ That way, everyone would look REALLY good, cuz you are right. So as I squint at the computer screen, I know it would be much better the other way, (but then I'd end up with a headache....) I guess we just can't win.
Thankful?? Too numerous to mention. My "gifts" far outweigh my demons though, of that I am certain.
Welcome back. we missed you.

Anytime sweetie, anytime. Also the reading glasses, I have worn them since about 40 also. It really sucks. I always say they are making the words smaller and that theres nothing wrong with my eyes. When you go to bed at night, Jenn see's the same adorable, cute, funny, single-chinned man she married. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....

Thanks for ths stuffing! Thankful - hmm - we all have our health and are capable at doing anything we want, physically. I look at that father that hauls his son around at marathons & does the iron man with his kid (and passes the young guys) while he is hauling or pushing his kid (full grown man). It makes you thankful for what we have and what we can obtain with our healthy bodies! Love to all & have a great day! T.

Hello Doug! I have been missing in action for a while and it sounds like you were too!
Thankful.... I am thankful that I have retained my sense of humor through everything that I have endured. Without a sense of humor - I am lost. I am thankful for happy, healthy children that make me love them and want to throttle them at the same time. I am thankful for coffee, prozac and cigarettes, without which those same 5 children might not have fared so well. Mostly, I am thankful for my friends, without which I would be lost. I am glad your one of them!!
