The campaign to save The Cliffe, the heritage property which was the childhood home of The Triffids' leadsinger David McComb and the band's early rehearsal/songwriting space, continues apace and has been headline news in Australia over the last few weeks.

A show by artists based in and around Perth has been organised for Sunday 9 August to raise awareness of the plight of the property. If you live locally, please pop along. Here are the details:

The "It's about The Cliffe! It's about The Cliffe! Doesn't he get it? It's about The Cliffe!" Show
Sunday 9th of August Railway Hotel , North Fremantle

A bunch of Perth artist will be combining forces to raise awareness and stop the demolishment of The Cliffe. Petitions will be set up at the show. All funds raised will be donated to the cause. The day will start at 2pm and finish at 9pm with a number solo artist and bands Such as Alex Manfrin (Comedian and MC), Matt de la Hunty (Tall Tales And True), The Morning Night, Salvage Diver, Richard Lane (The Stems), Robbie Jalapeno, Jayco Brothers Plus many more.

In 1894 Neil McNeil, built himself a mansion on a cliff overlooking Freshwater Bay. It was built almost entirely of jarrah. He called it "The Cliffe".

In 1984 it was classified by the National Trust. In 1992 it was included on the Register of the National Estate. In 1995 it was placed on the WA Register of Heritage Places.

In 2008, Colin Barnett introduced a motion into the WA Parliament that lead The Cliffe to become the first ever heritage building in WA to be removed from the Heritage Register.

In 2009 Peppermint Grove Shire issued a demolition licence. But it is still standing. Come and help save it.
