Hi Nick: I watched the Awards with your sister. I am glad you posted this. I was so happy to see the Academy honor our troops. I normally do not watch the Awards, because they are too often used as a platform to present far left political opinions. No one else has that kind of platform and it is so unfair to use the Awards that way.

I watched because your sister was and am glad I did this year. This year's awards came close to the real class of the Oscars I remember when the "Greatest Generation" was still around and Bob Hope emceed.

I was just proud our Troops were even included this year. I suspect they were because it is an election year, but nonetheless they were! (Correct me if I am wrong about the Troops not being honored before like this, as I normally boycott watching them).

I so respect your true humility in deferring to the unsung heroes doing their job for us in such a thankless and unrecognized way. It would have been great to have seen at least one of them in the presentation. However, you are probably right that those chosen were because of their comfort behind the camera.

I did not think about what your concerns were because I really did not realize all were news people and I have a AFN son. I think most of America saw them as our troops' representatives and were as proud as I was to see our men and women included.

Second, watched the Oscars, three hours I'll never get back.

And D. Are you telling me we didn't make a difference out there by telling people about Country Western Night every Wednesday by the palace pool? I guess I'm going to have to re-analyze this whole career field then.
