When I was a boy my mother would ask "Gomez! What are you doing!" I would respond in saying "Eh, mama, I am doing my homework." When really I was staring at the ceiling wondering if when Jesus returns will he be able to see through the ceiling and know that I am here and take me in the rapture.

I concluded, no, and moved my bed closer to the window.

Similarly, when people ask "How is the Wild Frontier going?" or "Are you guys doing any gigs soon?" I have instructed the boys and girl to say "No, we are taking some time off to focus on recording".

I have heard this excuse used by other bands, such as the Beatles, Axel Rose and Buddy Holly. It is a good little bit of PR, instead of people thinking "You are lazy" or "Gee, do you suck so much that no one wants to give you gigs", they think "Wow, these guys are in control of their destiny" or "They know whats what, yeah they know the difference between their ankles and their legs".
