Okay, I'm going to attempt to review the film "Where The Wild Things Are" since I just saw it. All I can say is I think Spike Jonze might be a genius. The film is based on the book everyone in the world but me read. It's about a 9 year old who builds forts, plays in the snow, and becomes friends with monsters. I loved this movie. For about 90 minutes, I was 9 again. The film brought back so many childhood feelings I forgot about. I laughed, tried not to cry(I didn't, but came close), and generally hate anything that makes me feel emotion. Okay, I'm lying. It takes alot to make me feel a range of emotions, but this film did. I felt childhood joy, sorrow, friendship and sadness that those days are long behind me.
The film looks great! It might not be for little kids because there aren't any explosions, car chases, or robots in it. One of the funniest site gags I've seen in a long time is in this film when a character loses a limb. That's about as violent as it gets.
To summerize, I loved this movie. I didn't want to leave the world it explores and am actually looking forward to the sequel, which won't be as good, but I want to see more of these charactters.
That's all for now. Please excuse me. I'm gonna build a fort in the living room and take a nap in it.
