We have a number of shows we are promoting with the band Shel in the area, starting next week. Shel has been called "The Next Dixie Chicks" and features what Mandolin Player Magazine calls the best female mandolin player in the world. The band is a unique blend of bluegrass fusion and Eric Clapton has called them one of his favorite bands. He quoted about them: "Mandolin player/vocalist Eva Holbroook is a fresh young talent whose family group known as SHEL is outstanding and unique." The band for the majority of their shows in the area promoted by Mosaic will be opened with Mary Jane Furches and her band The Geriatrics and Guitar Aficionado Brett Prothro.
Mary Jane Furches has been singing since a small child, and played on a nightly basis in a little coffeehouse in Hampton Beach New Hampshire during the summer of Woodstock for thousands of individuals on their way to this little festival. She continues to do folk and protest music as well as music with religious themes. While recently having foot surgery she will still be performing for the first time with her own band. Her CD Comin Round Again featured the lead guitar player for Randy Travis, the keyboard player for The Everly Brothers and bass player for Wynonna Judd along with other top studio musicians. Her concept video Amazing Grace has received over one million views.
Brett Prothro, a music and communications graduate from Southwestern College now living in North Newton has been recognized as one of the top up and coming guitar players in Kansas. A feat that is outstanding considering he has been playing guitar for less than 4 years.
