Thursday, June 07, 2007
Hey fellow music supporters. You may have noticed some serious inactivity on my Myspace page for the past few months. There's many reasons/excuses for this. Most importantly, health and technological. My back has been bothering me for years, but it's been terrible for the past two months or so. The main problem is sitting. I'm okay with standing or lying down, but I can't sit comfortably, which makes doing the work I do on Myspace difficult and painful. Also, our main computer crashed a while back, so while we wait for a new hard drive to be installed, I'm using Jessica's MAC Laptop, which is highly ineffecient and annoying. Lack of a mouse makes playing on Myspace very tedious, which slows it down, which means I have to sit here longer to accomplish things, which means my back hurts more.
I'm still going to shows. I haven't been writing reviews because I haven't had any reason to. I've mostly been seeing bands that I've already seen, and it doesn't really accomplish anything to review the same band twice. I will be trying to get out and see more bands that I haven't seen this summer, hopefully I'll get to check out quite a few bands at Summerfest. I'm definitely going on the 4th for Tool, other than that it depends on my work schedule.
Here is a run-down of the shows I've been to since my last posting on Feb 17th:
Feb 24th - Mike Brumm @ Wicked Hop
Mar 2nd- Sunday Flood & 1956 & Sleep Comes Down @ Stonefly
Mar 9th- SpaceQuakers @ Linneman's
Mar 16th- Spiral Trance @ Dr's Office AND Downrazor & Strangeland @ Main Stage
Mar 24th- Hired Geeks & Test Pilot @ Main Stage
Apr 6th- Boxing Day @ Riverwest Commons (also heard an incredible out of town band called Witch's Hat)
Apr 7th- Spiral Trance & Shattered Red @ Vnuk's
Apr 14th- Way to Fall & Gruesome Inches @ Strikerz
Apr 25th- Sunday Flood @ Points East
Apr 27th- Lockjaw & Trick Pretty @ The Rave
Apr 28th- Marcella & Spiral Trance @ BBC
May 11th- Marcella & Dark Horse Project @ Cactus Club
May 12th- Spiral Trance @ Main Stage

I've been pretty out of it after that because of my back and bands cancelling shows. If you want to know about any of these shows, just let me know.
I'm still looking for my own band as well. I've had several audition offers, some from very prominent local bands, but I haven't found the right one yet. It's pretty disheartening, especially after what happened with Szuta, but I'm trying not to get to down about it. Seeing all of these locals shows is both good and bad. Good because it makes me want to get back on stage, and bad because I'm sad about not being on stage.
Thank you to everyone who views my page and reads my stupid blogs and reviews. If you're a band, keep in mind that it makes my job MUCH easier if you send me a message about your upcoming shows; this way i don't have to go through my entire friends list (now over 600) to find you and and your upcoming shows. My back thanks you.
Also, I'm switching jobs starting next week. No more Starbucks, no more waking up at 3:30 in the morning. This makes staying up late on weekends much easier.

That's cool. Now that I'm on first shift, I have to wake up at 3:30 in the morning. (Which used to be when I got home from work; last week)

I actually saw your ad when I was looking for bass players. There's actually quite a drought on you guys lately. (Fuck, I know 4 counting TJ, but really, when he's your only option...hay chihuahua!)

We should totally hang out soon.

something I've dreamed of for a long time is a standing desk- for people who work better standing up. Back problems suck.

Good to have you back. We met briefly at the Marcella show at BBC Upper Level a while ago. I don't believe you've seen us play before so no worry of reviewing the same band twice, come to the BBC tomorrow if you like. It would be great to have you there. If not tomorrow, we got plenty of other shows coming up. I'll keep you posted if you're interested.

No more opens for Andy? Man, 2245 is really falling apart. Glad to hear that you've still been making it to shows, I was wondering about that. Hopefully the new job will help w/ the back pain...you were too beautiful for starbucks anyway. Hope all is well with you and Jess,

1 type of rock is never enough!

Sorry to hear about your back issues. I have some ruptured disc and disc degenrative disease amongst other back issues. Unfortunately I knew this from an early age but was told your to young to have back issues and I went see a doctor which wasn't a good thing. I mean sure I now the issue and I now know I'm not crazy. But tell that to those who hire you and you might loose out on some serious cash. Thats unfortunate. But you just have to learn to not put that on your apps.

Wish you the best of luck. There are many great local bands to see and hear. Some @ SummerFest and some not. You are welcome to check out where local shows are playing through Wi-Underground. Only problem is as you I am also not up to task always. But I however drive truck for a living and at the time I don't have my own truck and internet access is a pain over the road.

Anyways I've said a lot and hope you the best.

Ps I know your issue with trying to post all the bands tour dates. I say leave it up to the fans and hopefully by having fans add you they will find the bands they like and add them. I know it's one more friend on their list so thats more issues.
