Well we admit we were a bit nervous watching ticket sales a week before our two Edinburgh Fringe shows at the Acoustic Music Centre at St Bride's but home boy Chris Hoy's mighty Olympic speediness clearly set folks off their marks in some fashion and we wound up with one sell out show and one near as damn it! And such good fun! Hats off to Annie G in particular who had a four week run at the same venue as the surprisingly dowdy "Jean" in comic play "The Accidental Death of An Accordionist". She'd no sooner taken a bow on our 75 minute shows in her posh new frock than she was buttoning herself into a fetching pink tweed suit and pair of brown brogues and tying her hair into a matronly bun! Dedication!
Next stop is Hitchin Folk Club on the 28th September. Karine has played there a few times with her trio (and once with Corrina too). But The Sun Hotel is a new adventure for Annie G. Will be lovely as ever we hope!
Early October takes us to Celtic Colours Festival in Cape Breton, though not via Zoom Airlines. Alas the collapse of the budget airline leaves the festival with 35 international artists all needing new, grossly over-inflated late booking flights. And that's not including the whole of the Inverness Gaelic Choir all of whom booked their own individual flights in cash and wont see a penny of it back. What a pity.
Still we're looking forward to it and will be doing a wee bit recording at the lovely Soundpark Studios in Sydney. We're not putting any undue pressure on ourselves - just going to see how it goes and how much we wind up with. But there will most certainly be something - however small (but more than adequately formed!) in a final recorded format before the year is out.
Meantime Karine has been cutting her grass by hand with a pair of shears (because the lawnmower is broken), Annie is touring remote corners of Scotland in her pink tweed and Corrina is readying herself for a big show with Northumbrian piper and fiddler Kathryn Tickell.
Cheers! x
