It was 2am today when I wrote the blog about the first day of the Soul Tracks Awards weekend. So, I was too tired to comment on the next day. So, I am going to touch on it now. Saturday started with a tour of the Motown Museum. That was an amazing experience. To hear how Barry Gordy grew Motown was inspirational. He started with an investment of $800 that he received from a savings and loans institution started by his family. He found ways to get around some pretty major obstacles. Seeing the early tour bills with the likes of The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, etc….. was a treat to all of us who would love to one day reach the level of these ledgends. Thank you to the tour guides who were a lot of fun. The evening included wonderful performances by Dain Harris(who did a great job performing one of my favorite Prince Songs), YahZarah (Purple St. James), Kendra Ross, AB, Maya Azucena ,Abby Dobson, and PJ Morton. It was a great night, and I recommend you check out the music of all of these artists if you haven't already. I can't wait till the Soul Tracks Awards next year. Thank you again to Chris Rizik, Jodine of Jodine's Corner, and Mo of Mosaicthump for putting on such a wonderful event!
To all the wonderful people I met please please stay in touch!
